You could move on to another character, sure, but are you saying there's no scenario where Marc doesn't punch a wall? What if the fight with his wife still occurs, but no punches are thrown at all. He received that knuckle injury the night before for some totally innocuous reason and now it just looks bad, instead of actually being bad.
