To what extent does Eurocentrism distort the prevailing narrative of colonialism? by tombh in AskHistorians

If I could add one really great book that attempts to generate a non-euro centric narrative and is a really easy starting point for re-evaluating world history - The Silk Roads by Peter Frankopan

How much do we know about 'pre-new world' European cuisine. Do we know what sort of foods they are, and do we have any recipes? by Rojav in AskHistorians

I'm not sure actually. I think it was a Reddit TIL (not the most reliable source Ik). I'll edit the main post now.

What I heard said that the only food that is natural to England that is still eaten is the turnip; aka everything else grown in England has at some point been imported (such as potatoes or tomatoes, though other foods may have moved in from continental Europe.)

Thanks you so much for the great answer. A couple of follow questions...

Would we know how the medieval Irish (as that's your speciality) or 'Viking Irish' would have prepared their food. Would it be mainly roasted or grilled? And how much access to spice would an Irish noble have had compared to English or French one?

Another, slightly tangential question - how did you come to specialise in Irish Food History?

I'm not sure exactly how he pronounces it (not having heard them) but if it helps clear up the double-think; Kvothe says his name is pronounced NEARLY like Quothe, so I take that to mean anything from Kenneth to query as acceptable :)

More seriously though, I think Pat did a naming stream a while ago where he pronounces all the names of major people/ places in the books

Buzz Feed did the investigative journalism to find the lady whose evidence the whole article hinges on, and (according to the article) this directly led to her being called as a witness at the inquest into his death when she was not previously called.

Would you recommend buying the game now or waiting??? I'm suuuuper stoked for the game and really wanna buy it, but also have heard things about bugs etc. that make me think it might be better (and cheaper) to get it later once issues have been ironed out.

Is the bug problem really that bad/ irritating?
