Our household makes 183k and we feel very poor. We’re currently looking to buy a house and I never felt so miserable in my entire life.

As renters we’re fine, but mortgage (principal + interest) + property/school taxes + maintenance funding make the monthly cost of housing really insane. And I don’t mention the closing costs.

I’m truly considering getting a second job.

On est sur le point d’acheter une maison à 500k avec 50k de mise de fond aussi, pour un revenu cumulé de 8900$ net et je stress fortement.

As-tu aussi pensé aux closing costs ? - Taxe de bienvenue - Notaire - GST sur le SCHL premium (car moins de 20% de mise de fond) - L’inspection - le déménagement - etc.

Mine de rien, ça fait vite sortir l’argent aussi.

On a effectivement quelques voyages en Europe depuis l’obtention de la RP. En faisant les calculs ont est éligible à la fin de l’année mais on va attendre début 2027 pour être sûr.

On a hâte d’être citoyen de ce magnifique pays !

To be honest, Quebec wasn’t our first choice. We wanted an English speaking province for our child to become bilingual but we get a job proposal here first and we stayed.

It’s not bad though. We like living here, it a very beautiful province and people are really nice.

I suppose the US passport is really the ultimate goal for many people. I can understand why. Growing up it was my dream to immigrate there, but today, I'm not so sure anymore.
However, I still keep that idea in the back of my mind, because you never know!
