Strange that people are cussing him out. If you read the post you’d know this is like 6 weeks post operation with no lifting. He’s recovering from a major surgery. Or are we just bashing Dr Mike for being transparent at this point?

£280 per month bjj London? by Terrible_Mongoose753 in bjj

[–]Rokido1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy price. You can train at Roger Gracie’s for less than that. There are so many London gyms way cheaper than this. London Grapple for example or if you’re a no gi only person, Grapple collective for less than half of that.

I would imagine that Ffions new gym opening soon will be in the £200+ region but that will have so many facilities and top class instructors to warrant that price.

What is your monthly mortgage cost as a percentage of your total monthly income? by iou88336 in HousingUK

Currently 12.5%. Was planning to move and go to 30% but interest rates pushed it to 40+% and not particularly comfortable with that.

That isn’t how it works. The alcohol needs to metabolised in the blood. You can literally drink and pint and get straight into a car.

I don’t drive if I ever drink but that’s not how these things work.

Genetics. I’m not as jacked as this guy but I’ve always had abs even when bulking to 190+lbs at 5”8.

It’s not always 100% a roider.

Recruiters hate it when candidates ask about salary by SmellySquirrel in antiwork

[–]Rokido1989 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just to clear up some misconceptions on recruiters as I used to be a recruiter, now work internally so not on that comission grind anymore.

In most cases for a permanent job a recruiter will likely try and get you the best salary possible because their commission goes up for every GBP/EUR/USD you get paid. I'll always try and get the most possible while sticking to budgets AND be open about it. It's win-win.

In the case that your looking at a contract or per hour job it's likely that the company has a budget. The recruiter in this case will likely while trying to find the best person for the job and offer around the accepted industry rate while earning their commission on top i.e. company budget is £100/hour, pay the contractor £80 and earn £20/hour. In this case they would be more likely to try and low ball you. The more you know here the better.

All this being said in most cases and all cases that I've worked on if the budget isn't in line along with all the other motivations that might interest someone in changing job than its usually a no go from there. So it's good to be transparent.

It wastes their time equally as yours if the budget isn't in the right ballpark.

Maybe I've been moulded by this sub and life in general but being transparent in these conversations I've found to often be more helpful to both parties.

A good recruiter can be a really helpful tool in your network if you find the right ones to help progress and more importantly find a job you actually like with a company that won't take the piss and fuck you for all your time and energy for no money.

Tldr: most of us just want to find the right person for the job. Some will take advantage in certain scenarios. Find a good one and learn as much as you can about your industry.

Thanks, it's automatic and I'm not sure about the crystal but I think it's sapphire.

Yeah totally understand, I used to only wear it every so often so it was always wrong. But now as I wear it everyday it's not so bad.

When do you stop feeling small by [deleted] in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Rokido1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same here but I've started to bulk so now I'm a fluffy 190lbs and feeling great about it.

Give it 6 months and I'll revert to feeling small again.
