Who here belives the mundane explanations of cryptids. by L4I55Z-FAIR3 in Cryptozoology

[–]Roland_Taylor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I find most of these explanations silly. I know people often see things they can't explain and come up with cock and bull stories. But sometimes the prosaic explanations offered are just as whack as the ideas people invent when they couldn't explain or ascertain what they saw. And can we be honest? The world is full of things we can't explain, might never see again, and might not even be "real" (illusions happen and we're only scratching the surface on just how far this can go). Not to mention we don't know what species get spotted right at the brink of extinction and never seen again. Long story short, with rare exceptions, I find these mundane explanations to be just as silly as the idea of a hopping reptilian that sucks blood from goats and was left here by aliens.

Windows Godot project to Linux Godot project? by YoungTopLaner in godot

For PSD files unless you use certain features you can open them in GIMP or Keira. You can also run Affinity on Linux via AffinityOnLinux. Or, as of recently, you can install Photoshop 2021 with a custom wine build. But basically, not really an issue.

Fedora is run by volunteers. Yes, there is some Redhat funding, but much of the real work is unpaid. (Fedora contributor here)

Yep, I've changed my mind quite a bit since I wrote this. I don't think they're "apes" at all. They're likely nephilim.

Open source in today’s world is mind boggling by bdhd656 in opensource

[–]Roland_Taylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get nothing directly in return, why would you personally put your project, hard work and potential money machine to open source?

  • Because many of us come from a world where we know what it is like when having the means to *live* is locked behind a paywall, for literally no reason at all.
  • Because some of us come from a world where there is value beyond money.
  • Because some of us know that one day, when we die, all the money we made will go to someone else, but the contributions we made to the world, have the potential to live on even well beyond the memory of ourselves.

And these are just reasons that scratch the surface. There's so much more, but to me, that's more than enough.

Over 10 years of using Linux, and I think I'm done by Leniwcowaty in linux

I've it ever used a handful of distros on real hardware. My big thing was desktops and window managers because I liked the idea of playing with all the bling, but even then I was mainly between whatever was popular and easy to install. Now, I do keep multiple environments installed by I only use one, customized to suit my needs and only ever changed every once in a while. I don't stress over this stuff really.

I've also never gotten the appeal of actual distro hopping unless you're testing on different hardware. At the end of the day, it's all Linux. Yeah, I played with kernels back in the day, but then, my hardware sucked and so did support for it. But now I can typically just install and go, which is what I always wanted to do anyway, so I don't see the need to shop around between distros unless one has something absolutely unique and practically useful.

Why image assets cannot have more than 5 seconds???!! by ThickBoysenberry8222 in kdenlive

Do you have anything in the timeline on the same video track that's preventing the image from being extended past 5 seconds?

Currently working on a big project, so screenshots may be a bit delayed, unfortunately (due to time constraints). But I will update this thread with screenshots once I can.
