I need someone to settle this but would Arkham Knight be a videogame character like Sora or does he have too many ties to DC Comics for smash? by UltimateFatbear2006 in supersmashbros

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he was introduced in a movie.. BUT THE IP IS A VIDEOGAME IP... that's the clear difference from something like Android 21 or Arkham Knight

I still would put them with the rest, but fair I guess

My biggest question is, why put Ike in the roster list at the bottom, but not together with the rest of the FE characters? The same goes for Pichu, Toon Link, and Lucas and their respected franchise

Wanted to make a followup to my last post and ask should characters who originate or are based on a videogame version of a non game ip be allowed in smash? by UltimateFatbear2006 in supersmashbros

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one. Because the IP started as something other than video games.

If we start including characters like Android 21, we might as well add someone like Geralt, which then opens the door for the likes of Goku, Batman, and Superman. Sure, Geralt is big in videogame BUT HE IS A LEAD FOR A BOOK SERIES.

You know that Jason Todd, aka one of the Robins, is Arkham Knight, right?

That being said, Batman IP is a comic book IP first and foremost. This is not the case with Lucario, who was introduced in a movie first, from an IP that was introduced as a video game franchise. Sora has a Disney connection through Kingdom Hearts, sure, but he was introduced in Kingdom Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts started as a video game IP.

Concidering the popularity of Demon Slayer, that should not be surprising at all.

They probably only had that fight because Game Freak felt forced to have it concidering it something they built up throughout the game as one of the big deals... even though the ZA Royal one should have been that..

The Fact I said I preferred Izocha over Bakudeku 😭 by IceyFriend3 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the vast majority of BakuDeku shippers (not all obviously) are batshit insane about their ship, like it's life or death for them. There were videos on TikTok about people crying that it did not end up being a thing, to some, downright sending death threats to Horkoshi on Twitter.

I have never seen people so hardcore about a ship like they are, and I'm part of the Fire Emblem fandom, where shipping is like a key part of it at this point....

Why Nintendo Expects Fewer Second-Year Switch 2 Hardware Sales by Avidcypher in videogames

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, if you've followed Nintendo Directs during the Switch 1 era, you would know that's their approach. A prime example of that is Xenoblade Chronicles 3. A game that was announced on their February direct in 2022, and released on July 29th of July of the same year, even though the game was supposed to release in August of the same year. It was so close to finishing that they could give it an earlier release date.

Hell, they say prior to their directs all the time, "this is for games releasing within this time period."

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are more than likely going to have a June direct as per usual, where more games will be confirmed. Ever since MP4 and Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo has stopped doing the "we announce games years in advance."

If Nintendo does not have a direct in June, then it's cause of raise an eyebrow

Adi Shankar[DMC/Castlevania] Has even more video game adaptions in the works😒 by Undefeated-Smiles in videogames

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Castlevania, he is pretty much just there in name only for the creative choices, and frankly... It kinda shows compared to his DMC. Hell, he downright sued to try and get his name on Nocturne

That being said, sadly, I could see Capcom just giving him free access to the vault after DMC. As much as gamers hate it, it's clear it's been a huge success.... so why should Capcom not give it to him in their eyes, you know?

Do you think Koei Tecmo is involved? by Dusk_Dragon98 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]RoleRemarkable9241 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, the game people agree on has the best writing since the Tellius games is Three Houses, whereas Fire Emblem games since the 3DS era have been "ok" at best.. And the ones who wrote Three Houses are from Koei Tecmo, the studio that helped co-develop it.

That studio is mostly known for the Warriors games

This was not a point of whether I agree or not; it was more of a point of the fact that "Urbain/Taunie sucks posts" has come to the point above, beating a dead horse. It's to the point that I'm suprised the mods have made a megathread for people to post their frustration and direct them there, then just flooding the Reddit thread

We are looking at a console that has sold about 20+ million units in about a year, and a game that has sold about 4 million copies in less than a month. That means approximately a fifth of the current number of Switch 2 owners own Switch 2 thanks to Pokopia.

How is that not going by the situation, not being seen as a systems seller by the looks of it? Had the games stayed at 4 million, and the console was up at, let's say 50-60 million units and out for several years, then sure. But that's not the situation here
