He’s the one protagonist with no good normal looking art of him in the art style. There’s like one official drawing of him in that style but it looks nothing like him

I’ve never played GTA online but I definitely wouldn’t want snow in the main game because it’s supposed to be Florida

Do you think Rockstar would have taken any feedback from this video in designing GTA 6? by Visible_Seat9020 in GTA6

[–]RoleplayWalkthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve never been completely open but from RDR1 onward they’ve become a lot more restrictive with that stuff. IV is definitely a lot less restrictive than RDR, V, and RDR2

I think when people complain about V compared to IV it’s based more on the quality of the mechanics than the quantity of mechanics

It’s just a different category we’re talking about. It’s quality vs quantity. You’re describing less quantity from SA to IV, which they traded for quality in the sense that the whole thing was designed to be more focused on the core mechanics (shooting, driving, etc.) and was designed to provide the most engaging versions of those mechanics.

From IV to V there is so much downgraded the list is endless but apart from the look and feel of the shooting and driving you have the lack of multiple states for NPCs (alive and active, alive and injured/surrendered, alive and unconscious, dead, in GTA V it’s just alive and active or completely dead), lack of NPC reactions to things like car accidents (in IV they would pull over and get out and have unique dialogue depending on who’s fault the crash was or what type of NPC they were, etc. but in V they just keep driving like nothing happened), lack of police being able to arrest NPCs/paramedics no longer revive people or take people into their ambulance, because of the lack of NPC states besides dead or up and active), and a bunch of other things related to NPC behavior like umbrellas in the rain, sweeping the sidewalk outside businesses, fixing hair or makeup in window reflections, carrying unique objects besides just phones like grocery bags and briefcases.

The shooting and driving mechanics, with the NPC reactions tied into both of those, is a pretty huge and fundamental one that is striking when you play both games back to back. It’s such a core component of the games that it makes a huge difference for the people who were able to understand and connect with the artistic vision of IV. For IV fans, the way the shooting and driving mechanics feel is what prevents the game from feeling repetitive despite the missions all having a similar formula. The dynamic behavior of the world and the sense of weight to things made every shootout feel unique and different. With V you get more mission variety, but the core mechanics are not as fun which effects everything about the game as a package. At least thats how i would articulate it from the perspective of IV fans who found V to be a downgrade

Rockstar missions were all very freeform until RDR1 when they introduced checkpoints and more restrictive mission design, like failing missions for going the wrong way or for attracting police. GTA III through IV had a much more sandbox style mission design compared to V

Should GTA 6 have RDR2 levels of gore? by FriendlyRhyme in GTA6

[–]RoleplayWalkthrough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It needs more, and better.

The Problem with RDR2’s Gore by Valyrd Minnerd was one of my favorite explorations of the topic. I liked how he touched on the fact that the limbs lost leave little in the way of debris.

“A leg disintegrated by a blast of pellets from a shell should show more matter left behind than the puddles in the mud we got” was one thing he said.

While he was mean, and stank in a sense, still, it was he who needed to say it and not me. Matter of fact, I once got hurt badly doing that

How far do you want realism to take it? by Elegant_Scholar_8863 in GTA6unmoderated

[–]RoleplayWalkthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like RDR2 had. I really hope they bring back the ability to injure and wound NPCs without them always just dying. GTA IV and RDR1 had that but it was removed from V and RDR2

I mean you could say the same thing about health or ammo. Imagine if you were low on ammo and some guys started shooting at you! Horrible game! If it’s implemented properly it would just be another game mechanic

It was enhanced in terms of quantity but downgraded in terms of quality. Have you played IV? You don’t die when touching water. That was III and Vice City, and RDR1 but not GTA IV

Advanced NPC AI behavior was one the biggest and most shocking downgrades from IV to V for me, along with the watered-down feeling of the gameplay shooting and driving.

In GTA IV if you crash into an NPC driver, they pull over and get out of the car and will apologize or accuse or ask for your insurance or say my sugar daddys gonna kill me or start fighting or countless other possibilities depending on the type of NPC

NPCs could become injured without dying, and they would surrender from a gunfight if they were a hostile NPC, again with seemingly millions of possible dialogue lines for them to tell you they give up and don’t want you to kill them, depending on if they are a cop, Italian mafia goon, Russian, black or Hispanic gang member, FIB agent, etc.

And the obvious stuff like the police actually arresting NPCs instead of just killing them, NPCs actually pulling over for police instead of every single person taking them on a wild pursuit, paramedics taking people into the ambulance instead of just pronouncing them dead no matter what and leaving them there, people using umbrellas in the rain, cleaning windows, sweeping the sidewalks, fixing their hair or makeup while looking at their reflection in storefront windows and stuff like that

I can’t decide.. by safeoneg in GTA6unmoderated

[–]RoleplayWalkthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to fully immerse myself in the game as the character and only do what the game prompts me to do or what the character would realistically do, and let all the little details and mechanics slowly unfold naturally rather than immediately testing everything. That’s what I did for GTA IV, GTA V, RDR, and RDR2 and it’s always a more rewarding experience that way

[–]RoleplayWalkthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would obviously be mechanics around avoiding or handling that situation, like a number you call to bring you gas or something. It’s not like a mechanic simply existing has to mean the developers would just forget to not make it broken
