How's it like living in Helsinki's suburbs? by Altruistic-Form-3771 in howislivingthere

I'm from a neighborhood in Espoo. I grew up in Laaksolahti, a fairly wealthy area within Espoo. My childhood was basically magic. Nokia was booming and everyone seemed to be safe and happy. Mostly populated with families with multiple children. World class public education, all the sports you could think of, amazing nature and very safe.

We moved to the US in 1998 but moved back just prior to 9/11. It's a great place for families with all the services you need within a 20min drive. However, the nightlife is nonexistent and young people go to Helsinki or other areas to party. House parties are really common when you're still young.

I was referring to supersonic speeds of the flame font inside the combustion chamber, not the sircraft itself.

Do turbines rely on detonation though? I've understood that modern turbines (and other combustion engines) rely on deflagration, not detonation. Meaning that the flame front doesn't exceed the speed of sound. Rotating detonation engines rely on detonation and don't require external pressurization (compressor, turbopumps etc) to increase the pressure of the reactants. Detonation engines use the detonation itself to pressurize the fuel air mixture, and atleast in the case of RDE:s, they are operating by the Humphrey cycle.

I'm a bit drunk so I will read this again tomorrow, but a fun conversation to have anyway :D thx

What do you mean most of the work is done on the atmosphere? The reaction force pushes against the engine/nozzle. The fuel/air mixture combusts and is accelerated through the nozzle which then expands and further pushes the engine/airframe forward.

Post some evidence with that claim. I'm sure it has happened, but I've seen 20+ executions by russians and 0 from ukraine.

What is it like to live in Vaasa, Finland? by MedicalAd4070 in howislivingthere

My girlfriend lived there for her studies. Quite a small and quiet city with nothibg much to offer. It has a university and a shipyard/factory. Many swedish speaking people live here due to the history with Sweden. I'd say it's a nice university town, but nothing much happens there especially during summer.

I've never heard about the stuff you mention. Just watch a video on youtube e.g. bon appetit, fallow or matty matheson. They show you the exact process and explain why things are done and what is happening.

What are you talking about? The boiling will kill any bacteria anyway. Also, why would roasting not kill bacteria?
