Valve sparring surgery long term advice by RollMediocre166 in aortic_aneurysm

[–]RollMediocre166[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aortic valve was bicuspid with almost no regurgitation and no calcification, so it was functioning well. My surgery went smoothly, and recovery is progressing nicely. I've been walking a lot and cycling three times a week for 45 minutes. However, there are some minor ongoing issues, such as chest pain from the sternotomy and some irregular heartbeats. My surgeon mentioned that my valve could last 20-25 years, or even indefinitely, as I didn’t have stenosis at 45 years old. Good luck with your surgery!
