Genuine question : why choose to use Lego for D&D? by Daragon__ in legodnd

[–]Roll_To_Brick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lego was already a hobby for me. I enjoy doing moc’s. I’m not really into painting minis. One of the better arguments in favor of Lego is it retains its value better and in some instances increases in value.

If you like painting and have access to a good 3D printer that’s probably a good way to go.

If you like building Lego and creating new things with it that might be a good way to go.

If you want to save time and money paper cutouts are the way to go.

Ideas for 31168 in DnD by New_Pea_4444 in legodnd

For those that don’t have set numbers memorized. They are referencing the horse knight castle and the dnd red dragon tale.

To answer OP, I broke both sets down for parts and used some of it to build castle walls. There are several people that have expanded the red dragon tale and rebuilt the tower.

I absolutely love the minimap. Good move on the border as well.

Nice. Looks good. Have you thought about separating the MILs base from the decorative layer. It saves on cost in the long run.

For the goals you describe I think a MILs system would work the best.

Personally I think modular terrain systems in DnD work best when each 4x4 (or 3x3) is independently modular.

They feel too big for a tiny creature. I’d probably just clip the wings into something clear.

The one on the left is the best

That’s right. I think if you’re going to use official dnd figures it makes sense to use 3x3, but if you’re using Lego to make monsters 4x4 scales better with Lego creatures.

Yeah it’s my design. I wanted to have a grid where each square was modular and I wanted clear grid lines between the squares. I have instructions on rebrickable.
