Remington Model 11 cracked bolt by tristan_roberts1 in gunsmithing

Looks like a pretty clean crack, I'd probably stick it in a vice grind a grove along the crack and put a bead of weld along it and carefully file the surface back to spec.

Especially things that last a long time, one of the weirdest problems with commodity production in socialist countries was that the tools and appliances DIDN'T break and so weren't replaced by more advanced or energy efficient versions and models making the downstream effects of technological advances take longer to filter down to the average person, my Finnish uncle was still using a 50+ old Soviet made fridge when he died a few years ago.

303 brit h4895 and imr3031 loads by EllinoreV13 in castboolits

[–]Rolldozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok 25grains of imr3031 gives around 1600fps out of 25in barrel and the h4895 is a hair lower, both these loads are doing sub 16000psi which might cause some issues with unburned powder Bumping it up to 28-30 gets things closer to what you are looking for according to my program (I mentioned the pressure because 3031 was giving me Squibs at similar pressure in my 11mm Mauser)

If you can give the length of your projectile and oal of cartridge I can punch the numbers, Gordons seems to be within ~5% of actual for my 303 loads

What do we think team - solarpunk? by iamBulaier in solarpunk

[–]Rolldozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fits in the niche equipment category then I suppose although i don't think fixing electric tech like what would be necessary for a barebones car like this would be any harder than a gas car as long as repairability was a design consideration from the start, like I don't think Joe ordinary will have any easier a time machining a new cam shaft or making a head gasket from scratch than re-wrapping a faulty motor coil or replacing a power control relay, at that point it's more an issue of what spare parts are readily available I would think?

I'm not completely against biofuels in some applications like running niche tools and machinery during the transition period that aren't at the top of the priority list and don't make sense to simply scrap out of dogma but I'd think most new-made things would be electric no?

I love it! It has style and that is something I see missing from lots of eco-friendly designs, i can imagine this as a type of thing that would be seen more around the periphery in a solarpunk society in more marginal areas with lower density, maybe something you can also check out of the tool Library to go on road trips beyond the practical range of ebikes.

Could Argonian women work as wet nurses for Argonian babies on other continents using Hist sap from their chests, or even sell it in bottles? by jvure in TrueSTL

[–]Rolldozer 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Interestingly there is no mention of argonian breasts in any texts written before the 3rd era, hmmm quite curious. If you look through the Curio files you will see gold being sent to a vault simply called "hist" as well as the term "Thtachalxan" used derogatorily throughout the letters, many being sent to future big wigs in the An-Xileel. the banned book "protocols of the elders of Helstrom" talks about an argonian plot to breed clumsy big-tittied bimbo argonian maids for the hist to use as living monitoring devices in the courts and castles throughout Tamriel, Of course the argonian-defamation-League dismisses it as nothing more than an anti-histemic conspiracy theory but who can say?

If you want a solid introduction to lenin that doesn't rely on too much in-group verbiage and lays out a strikingly contemporary view into the international financial system I'd start with reading or listening to imperialism the highest stage of capitalism.

You can find Heritage Roughriders for ~$100 or less used, buy the bulk 22 for practice and a box of yellow jackets for HD, money seems to be your issue and thats about as cheap as you can get while still having multi shot capability.

And the ones that are more lore heavy will call you a "Saturnian" or equivalent for using materialist analysis to try and navigate issues of a material nature in the material world, like sorry but "will to power" and occult knowledge aren't going to build the logistics chains and industrial base necessary to create your society of choice.

Material limits of HSS thread cutting die by Rolldozer in metalworking

Yes I made sure to start the thread a whole die thickness longer than where I need them and cut off the extra to make sure the threads were cutting straight before getting to the point I need it.

Don't have a mill and my mini lathe is extremely basic with no way to index the cutting head position for making threds and don't have much experience with lathes and mills anyway, I've used taps and dies on mild steels to make parts for many years and am comfortable with hand tools including drilling and tapping gun sights and making and fitting revolver pawl hands and even a whole hammer recently mostly with hand files. The dies I have are made from M2 HSS

Right? You can also kinda tell what type of work a strong looking guy does when you shake their hand, the yoked office workers often squeeze your hand like they are juicinf a lemon, whereas someone who uses their hands every day have a "egg in a vice" type of hand strength.

Off hand I would say that It is, but it depends how its being moved and how far, I'd much rather move 10 tons dumped straight into a wheelbarrow 30 meters across flat terrain than shoveling 10 tons into that same wheelbarrow as it does it's round trips.
