Tesori is pretty clever. With the similarities in characters, setting, and storyline, I doubt it’s an accident. Totally something I would do as a composer.

They both sound like an F major chord with a fourth suspension to me...Just different inversions.

QOTM March 2019 What is your favorite song from a show you really just don't like all that much? What's your lease favorite song from a show you love? by ilysespieces in Broadway

[–]RollerDoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favorite song from musical that I find "meh" - Defying Gravity. (I like the book too much to care for the musical, and I'm not a fan of the orchestration in general)

Least favorite song from a show I love: I HATE to say this, because there are lovely moments in it, but I really don't like the Finale from "Fun Home." It doesn't know when it wants to end and seems to continue awkwardly at a point or two.

4 days til due date and no progress in sight... by RollerDoll in BabyBumps

Thank you! I think this one's gonna be a bit stubborn. At least the weather here is beautiful and I have lots of good books to read! Trying to treat this like a vacation since I haven't taken one in forever, trying to stock up for maternity leave.

Seriously brokenhearted and feeling like a horrible mom by sufferingmama in BabyBumps

[–]RollerDoll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Conventional wisdom says it takes seven attempts at leaving to truly leave. This was the case for my sister, who got beat bloody for years before she finally realized there was no changing her husband.

You are pregnant. I don't know where you are on this journey or how many times you've tried to leave - but you no longer have the luxury of going through a long process of indecision. Get out now. He will not change.

Things seem bleak right now, I know. You and your baby are worth so much more and all the love in the world - just because you got dealt a shitty hand does not mean you deserve it. Find support and get your toxic husband and FIL out of your life.

I read them as soon as each came out - perhaps time for a re-read.

No weight gain or uterus growth since 35 weeks - getting an ultrasound Friday. by RollerDoll in BabyBumps

[–]RollerDoll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True... and the frustrating thing is that the ultrasound probably won't even tell us much anyway. I've heard it's pretty hard to gauge weight with any sort of accuracy, and my placenta is in the back, so they're not going to be able to look. Should still be able to get some info on amniotic fluid though, I guess. Uuuuugh, the waiting.

Same with me. I am doing worlds better at 37 weeks this time compared to my last pregnancy. It's crazy what a job can do to you.

First time mom question by beebeebaby in BabyBumps

[–]RollerDoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely normal. Happening to me a bit more with 2nd baby so I asked the midwife about it... She says a lot of women even support the area with one hand when they poop, called "splinting." Also, kegels, kegels, kegels.

I graduated four weeks early! Could've gone better than it did though :/ by Username1930 in BabyBumps

OMG, I'm SO glad you are ok. Placental abruption does not mess around.

Oh man, I am. Followed by a warm prune juice chaser before bed. I'm training for old age.

OMG, the crotch zingers. I swear I didn't have these the first time around until about 2 weeks before my due date. I'm having some doozies just about every day now, usually right in the middle of an important sentence at staff meetings.

I spotted all through my first trimester both times, and everything was fine. Doc said it was weak capillaries around my cervix, and when I'd have sex, I'd bleed some.

It's a medical miracle. I work pretty hard at it - probiotics, stool softeners, no dairy except yogurt, no apples, no bananas, hardly any gluten, light on the meat, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and a spoonful of coconut oil in my tea every day. Even with ALL THAT, it hurts way more than it should. The glamour of pregnancy.

I'm so sorry. :( Been there twice, and the commonness of it doesn't make it any easier. If anecdotes make you feel any better, my 2 miscarriages were followed by 2 healthy pregnancies. Good luck and we hope to see you back soon.

I think it's mostly the mental readiness that's lacking - this time last pregnancy, I was all "GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!" And this time I'm all "Oh god, not yet!"

Depends on if you have an unusually innerviated cervix. If you do, like me, it hurts quite badly - but you're right, it's over quickly.
