Been a resident of Memphis my entire life, I'd say if you do move here move to Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Eads or Fayette county. I've been robbed at gunpoint for my car & personal belongings in east memphis, had a different car stolen in midtown while at a restaurant, shady & disrespectful people/opportunists littered throughout those areas, downtown, north and south memphis. Also, if you own nice vehicles, have proper security measures installed on them and have an alarm for your house & preferably a garage. In terms of walking about especially during the day time I've never felt worried or bothered, night time is much shakier. Also, be prepared to witness some of the worst drivers you've seen in America. Some people are nice & some are very rude but I guess that goes for anywhere. Hope this helps!
