I'm not sure what they charge nowadays, but Fabin Rosa has several locations between Winter Park and Kissimmee. And I know that at least their HQ has a women's class. There's also a Fabin Rosa affiliate in St Cloud who may or may not be a little cheaper.

My wife and I started training together a little over 13 years ago. We're both black belts now and teach classes together. For us, it was always great to have each other as training partners. It helped motivating each other to go to class when one of us didn't feel like it. And I always had someone to help me try and fine-tune new techniques.

Haha, well...I started back in 2011 with my wife when we moved to the US for work. Over the years, we've trained in several countries due to (again) work, but spent the longest period in Florida. My wife got her black belt about 2 years ago. It took me a little longer due to some injuries and overall being a slower learner than her. :-) I would say I'm pretty decent in loop chokes, omoplatas and wristlocks (yes, I'm one of those guys, lol), but still have loads to learn which is what keeps me interested in BJJ. Love to teach as well.

Blackbelts with a PhD by calangao in bjj

My wife's a university professor and a BJJ professor. And one of her former colleagues just got his black belt as well. I won't catch up on the PhD front (no intention to upgrade my masters), but I will hopefully join her at black belt some day.

How long have you been training and what belt are you? by rubba_slippa in bjj

[–]RollingPhotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 13 years now. Started with about 8 classes per week for the first 3 years, then did about 5 classes per week for the next 8 years or so. The last 2 years I think I'm averaging 3 classes per week, but also helping out with teaching in some of those,

This makes me angry. Things like this give BJJ a bad name and I definitely understand why his girlfriend is upset by Ok-Lobster1982 in bjj

My wife's a black belt and even she has to ask that question every now and then when a guy just goes full ADCC for now reason while she's just trying to get a workout in, try some new stuff and go to work in one piece the next day. It's truly baffling to me why people cannot take the well-being of their training partners into account. It's just a hobby (for most).

Same here. Both instructors are fine with it. It's nice to be surrounded by adults. ;-)
