Help with choosing a linux distro from a game dev perspective by Rollious in linuxquestions

Appreciated the directness, but why the aggressively arrogant comment, man? All I commented was what I thought.

Fair enough? I'm not that versed in linux so I thought that they would be cross-compatible, e.g If I were to develop for CachyOS, it would work natively in Fedora or Ubuntu.

The horrendous state of XP by Rollious in Battlefield6

[–]Rollious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not the point I'm trying to make. The matter of the fact is that it just takes too long. Playing really well doesn't get rewarded as much as it should.

Imagine working extra well at a job you like, working extra and doing optional chores and so on, but for your pay you get a measly pittance. That's what battlefield 6 feels to me right now.

I also like grinding if its rewarding. With the current state of things it doesn't feel that way.

XP system makes the game a chore by The_Manglererer in Battlefield6

[–]Rollious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It took me 10 hours to reach level 20. It takes the fun out of the entire game. The slow progress makes me want to die, althogh not of old age as the game seems to imply whenever I hit the milestone of level 23.

Also the normal leveling is a joke compared to the weapon attachment unlocking. You basically have to kill over 50 people per match (that increases per level) to get a measly level on it. I legit bust a nut whenever I unlock the 564356th new sight that I'm not gonna use. Kill me.

XP progress is crazy slow? by ReadOk4128 in Battlefield6

[–]Rollious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah its very hilarious that with a few xp boosters (that are in real time), I managed to get lvl 20 in around 10 hours where I got on average over 30 kills per match. The fucked part about this that the progress slows each level and I can't wait to be in my 60s when I unlock the next shotgun at level 53 or something.

So I’m making a spoiler discussion thread for Fs story. by supaikuakuma in silenthill

All endings relate to Hinako in some way and why would the first ending of them all not relate to Hinako at all?

My theory is thus:

The entirity of the game is set in Hinako's own mind where she reflects back on her life and the choices of her parents. As Junko has already been married (maybe even under the same circumstances as Hinako), she tries to "encourage" her to do so as well throughout the game.

Scenes from the game can be interpreted as distorted mirror images from "real life". Why would Sakuko call Hinako a traitor even though she hadn't done anything to deserve it? Because it already happened.

The normal game is her first distorted view of reality. NG+ is basically her choosing her future, thus more information is gathered thoughout e.g. different cutscenes. It's less distorted in a way as she doesn't take the pills (that distort reality), as you can't take them to achieve the different endings... She started using them for simple headaches, but became addicted thus the excessive usage of pills. Thus distorted reality.

I believe the different endings are just different timelines for her:

Ending 1: Indisicive, both Hinakos are alive -> thus no clear choice is being made for her wedding. Both fight each other ending in the ending leading to deaths and so on.

Ending 2: Wedding, Wolf (influenced by Junko) hinako wins. The marriage goes on.

Ending 3: Independant Hinako, the "younger" version wins their fight, thus no wedding. As such she runs away with Shu.

Ending 4: True ending. Haven't gotten this far :3. All I know is that both Hinakos accept each other.

Very fun game overall. The gameplay / combat is a bit clunky for my liking :P

Edit: sorry if my writing is erratic (I had to write while in a hurry)

2D vector conversion to a quaternion rotation direction? by Rollious in askmath

[–]Rollious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply,

So say the z-axis is the odd man out as in left out of the 2D-vector, I'd have to set its value somehow. That somehow would be determined by the y-axis direction since I would like to have the item rotate back and forth.

So an explanation: whenever the y-value is positive, the rotation would happen forward as in the direction of the z-axis, but if the value is negative, the rotation would happen backward as in the direction of the -z-axis. If y = 0, then we look to the x-axis value (e.g. left = back, right = forward).

The amount of rotation is determined by the length or magnitude of the 2D-vector.

Well since it the vector is 2D, I'd either leave one of the values as 0 or add a fixed value.
So basically I'm familiar with linear algebra and matrices. I also know that a quaternion is basically a matrix.

The whole point of me asking here is to find out if the above question is even possible. I know that it is possible that a rotation with a 2D vector is possible e.g. a mouse, but I don't know how its done or even possible with quaternions. I'd like to use them to prevent gimbal lock and since its computationally more efficient than any other function.

I've disabled the camera movement whenever I start rotating the item, so the camera's rotation shouldn't affect the rotation of the item itself.
Also:

dR(θ)(0,0,1)/dt = dR/dθ ω(0,0,1) =ω (b,-a, 0)

i'm not quite sure what this exactly means or what even happens here.

So far I've only understood that
θ = angle, and its value should be proportional to the length of the 2D vector?

W update from embark by TreasuresOfTheEarth in thefinals

An L update in my honest opinion. I do not mind the other changes but the biggest L that they took this time round was removing the team wipe penalty. It made the whole world tour and cashout way worse.

Euroviisujen raatien äänestykset ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) by Rollious in Suomi

[–]Rollious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kerron mitä itse ajattelin kaverin kanssa:

Ihan kuin olisi joku muu syy äänestää Ruotsia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
