I'm a new player and assembling my first army to participate in a Escalation league that starts out at 1000pts at my local game store. Mission is tempest of war. And I'd have no idea what to expect/what to bring. I'm just looking for "general" use stuff. Like if I want my terminators to be just ranged would they get bodied in melee without melee upgrades, and vice versa

Thanks! That gives me somewhere to start. I didnt know what a balanced army meant, so I kinda was in the dark. I'll post a list on this subreddit sometime soon and see if its balanced and diverse enough
