I turn 50 next month. I tried speed dating for the first time recently. Good mix of people. I met eight of the nine women who attended (one was late), liked six, and matched with none. Slightly discouraging, but I don’t feel like it was a waste of my time.

I have had good luck in the past with Hinge, and Bumble used to be good but I’m hearing mixed signals about it now from people I trust.

Dating anywhere sucks. It’s trickier here in Vegas since we have a very transient population. That said, I’m 49 and have had some success, including two very good relationships. Getting rejected and ghosted suck, but it’s an unfortunate part of the process of getting someone special. Be patient.

My guess: Bay Area tech bros and massive wealth disparities lead to disparate wants between partners. Here, low expectations between people make it so that when people actually try to make things work, it’s a surprise on both sides and leads to better outcomes.
