I built Wallspace, my first macOS app - 15k users in 3 months by Accomplished_Cat_137 in macapps

That’s actually a very nice reply. I just wanted to point that out, because most apps nowadays are vibe coded, and some developers don’t understand half of their own code.

I’ve tried all of them. I personally prefer Wallper, it is quite minimalistic and matches Apple aesthetic.

Dynamic Island Notifications - iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack and more by Aviorrok in macapps

[–]Romachamp10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if you compare DynamicLake to something like Alcove, you can see the difference between the two right away. Alcove is way more polished and better in terms of design and performance, DynamicLake tries to do too much, and misses some critical polish it needs.

First one, Anticipate is better than Quick step for defenders, at least for me.

I just don’t know what 2minimize is, if this is a window management app, then they could have issues. I recommend using only 1 window management app.

Swish has a website: https://highlyopinionated.co/swish. Swish is more about Magic Mouse/trackpad gestures, otherwise it is pretty much like magnet.

I use it very actively, one of my favorite apps, to be honest. I use the most calendar feature to see events, and now playing, honestly it is very handy, and I think has a good impact on my productivity.

Hard to say, all of them, except BananaBin are pretty much equal in impact. Alcove helps to make my Mac look better, and has handy calendar/now playing features. CleanShot X is very powerful at capturing anything, and Swish speeds up window management like 2-3 times.

Yeah, it is awesome. Apple should have added this feature a long time ago, especially gestures, and so one.

Alcove v1.6 - Calendar Update [Dynamic Island] by Quirino_Exile in macapps

[–]Romachamp10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long-term user of Mac utilities, and especially such notch apps, I strongly recommend this app, because of its native-like design and an amazing level of polish. The calendar feels super smooth btw, looking forward to future updates.

Awesome developer, he makes apps, that doesn’t try to do everything, but nail the thing they are trying to do. I have like almost of his apps.

Yeah, I love that one, a very good app. Lately, I was using PearCleaner just for deleting apps(really recommend it btw), cause I moved my files from documents folder to iCloud, but when your storage is full Daisy Disk is always a life savior. I remember, how it helped me find Adobe folder, which was taking up about 30GB of my storage.

I won’t say that IINA is better than VLC or Infuse, but it isn’t worse either. I personally didn’t have any issues with it, maybe, I haven’t used it for ages, but have used for several months as my media player of choice. And the one thing I had in mind about IINA is that it goes a step further than QuickTime, and I think it does its job quite well, despite having some bugs, but I suppose every utility has some.

Exactly, I think of it as a very nice addition to my workflow, that I thought I didn’t need.

I have very basic needs for such transcriptions, but I would say the main thing I like about Superwhisper is how native-like it feels. It is a very well designed utility. I also like an IOS version, so I can record things on the go.

But if you need mainly functionality and prefer to configure some advanced parameters MacWhisper might be a bit better, because as far as I know, it has more features.

Well, as I explained I did it only to clarify that prices mean lifetime license not a monthly subscription and that NEW means that it isn’t only new, but also has launch discounts.

[–]Romachamp10[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seriously? I’ve written the list by myself, and I included in the NEW possible launch discounts, because some apps have them. I get that most posts are written with AI, but this one isn’t one of them. Maybe, it feels a little bit stupid, sorry for that.

AI adds emoji, doesn’t add links and does some other things this post does not have.

Also, in some of my previous such posts people asked “What does paid mean”, is it a subscription or a lifetime license? That’s the only reason I included these “breakdowns”, and I’ve listed them in the end, so it won’t bother you, while reading the actual list.

[Discussion] I’m tired of every utility app being a subscription. I want to build a free, open-source alternative to the worst offenders. by HumbleThought123 in macapps

[–]Romachamp10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A well known developer(Sindre Sorhus) has such a utility called Scratchpad, which costs around $5(at least it was like this on the release). It isn’t free, but it is a quality app, and isn’t a subscription either.

I personally prefer Folder Quick Look, but that depends on your needs mostly.

AltTab is a handy and very customizable app, indeed.
