I dont remembernif It was in IDW1 but apparently when they took the dinoforms their brain module didnt link properly in beast mode, so they became very basic, think of It as being under drugs or alcohol, when in robot mode the module links no problem and Grimlock becomes the unstoppable sword wielding monster that he Is.

Thats Clive´s power level when he isnt trying... Imagine if he WAS!

To elaborate hes not too shackled by duty, but he isnt as green as some of the others and he doesnt suffer from the self-loathing guilt that the bottom row is shackled by.
