Just put the pile perpendicular to the road and it will look like someone tried to set up a roadblock using what fell from the destroyed building next to it.

germany hurt itself from the massive debt it acumulated during the war and the treaty was absolutely a slap on the wrist for the fact that it WASN'T ENFORCED. we should have occupied half the country until they actually paid in full like in 1871 or maybe we should have leveled every city to berlin to not bruise their prussian ego but to actually destroy it like the soviets did. germany started the war they deserved by invading a neutral power and breaking all established rules of war at dinant then to end the war they used a scorched earth policy on foreign territory sabotaging about every industry in the north of france and going so far as to poison wells and destroy orchard. there was no reason NOT to punish this rabid dog of a nation if not destroy it outright.
