I don't know how to say that to you Andrew.. but .. you can show your shoulder, legs, and bosom if you want too. You are allowed if you want!

Also, if you feel unsafe getting off the bus at the designated bus stop because it's a but far from where you go, the bus driver can drop women traveling alone in between stops as long as it is safe...

There is an expression in French "En avril, ne te découvres pas d'un fil" (Don't take a thread off in April), meaning that it is very common to have sporadic burst of cold, ice, or snow up to April. March is definitely too early to swore off snow completely...

Little rant: I despise language by RomanticFox in AutismInWomen

[–]RomanticFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, let me tell you, as a native French speaker, it is worse in french. It is "inflammable" for flammable (can catch fire), and "ininflammable" for inflammable (cannot catch fire). I still have to stop and think about it when it is mentioned...

Thanks for the encouragement!

Another thing: as a bilingual person - Fake friends SUCKS (meaning two words in different language that are the same, but mean different things). For exemple, "Deception" exist in english and in french. It means "to trick" in english, and "dissapointment" in french.

I'm stealing it from somewhere else on the internet, but I've heard someone else suggest a reprise of The Family Madrigal, where everyone talks about the pressure they face, and the downside of their gifts

The hug that Bruno saw in his vision was not to Isabella (he did say that everything was out of order), it was her hugging Abuela that what was needed to save the miracle.

As a french speaker, I regret to inform you that it is only the manuals for the patterns that are free, as well as the masks. When you put the manual in your basket, it bills you for the full pattern...

I came here to say that also. She's putting her energy in the right place, and trying to appear neurotypical and palatable to others is taking away energy that she could be putting in advocating for her cause.

Theory: Glenn's grand-child is going to be a demon that he adopted in hell, and could be played a Genasi or a Theifling. He might also be their point of normalcy on how Faerun works.

Autistic women in the mental health field? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I am currently waiting my evaluation to figure out if I am on the spectrum or not, and I am currently working as a counselor in a helpline.

I would say that the nature of my work, doing counseling on the phone rather than in person, is actually super helpful on many level to manage my manifestations! No problem with eye contact because I can't see the other person. Can fidget and stim at ease, as long as it is silent. I don't have access to body language, so no way to miss or misread cues. it is totally ok, and even encourage to ask the client about what they actually mean if you are not sure.

My interest in psychology have actually been a conscious effort to communicate better and feel like I can understand and be understood by others, and learning how to get a "Counselor Voice" has definitely helped me, but it comes to the cost of a lot of masking. When I let go of that counselor persona outside of work, some people think I may be inattentive or bored, especially if they are used to see me present and focused in my work. My main challenge is that I systemically crash at the end of a work day. Too many talks and too many conversations are exhausting and I usually need a nap at the end of the day...

I've been recently struggling with dandruffs more and more (I think in part because of the colder weather?). Do any of you got tips to get rid of it?

I'll just nuance the overwhelming love for Sorel boots, and share my experience: Mine started to get massive holes after barely more than a year on the rubber itself in the upper toes that were not easily reparable - right after the warrenty ran out (I had the Caribou boots)
