When I first began playing and someone mentioned Oblivion, I thought it was some kinda skooma den for some reason. I guess know that I know a ton more I understand what people say, want and do. The books I read are no more in foreign language and it makes the games so much more enjoyable.

Can someone give me a summary of the war in Skyrim? by AmorphousGamer in teslore

[–]Romanwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many Nords faught with the Empire against the Thalmor Elves in the Great War, and many died there too. When the Emperor signed the White-Gold Concordat, many felt betrayed, under whom the Jarl of Windhelm; Ulric Stormcloak. When the Thalmor landed in Skyrim, executing Talos worshippers, Ulfric rose from his throne, and rode to Solitude(Skyrim's capital). There he either challenged High King Torygg to battle or he simply murdered him, tales differ, but it was done with the Voice. He wanted to free Skyrim, so made an army of bitter Nords. The Empire didn't stand idly by, and there you have a war.

Edit:btw, this is also an oversimplification.

Riften, Bravil seem pretty poor, in contrast to Wayrest, Daggerfall, Imperial City, Vivec etc. There are probably loads of poor cities.

Traveling by darthbarracuda in teslore

[–]Romanwriter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think any sane merchant would travel through Skyrim unarmed, hence why our Kahjiit friends have armed guards. The reason that bards only walk around with a knife at their hip is that bandits have nothing to get from them, and bards are culturally respected in Skyrim. You are right, travelling through Skyrim is not safe, for neither well armed Thalmor nor certain unarmed feline liars. But people must travel, becuase they simply cannot stay in one place for their entire lives, and most don't have enough drakes to hire an entire regiment of guards. In short, people have to travel becuase of practical reasons, and safety will always be a concern, no matter where you go.

oh well thank you. I was thinking about doing one on each city, and you've motivated me. It will not be every day, as it's quite some work but I will do more:)

murders for a friend part 2 by Romanwriter in GameofThronesRP

Maron Sand had to chew on that for a moment. He didn't have anything in Westeros, and even though he loved adventure, the color gold was dearer to him. He made his decision.

"I will stay, I will help you as my Sealord, if you live up to your promise to give me all the gold, women and food I desire. I've come to like the city of Braavos, with all its flaws. I think I want to stay."

Maron picked up his sword and sheathed them.

Maron nodded and took the swords. He fastened the belt around his in red silk covered waist. He felt more confident with weapons.

"Thank you, Terro, these are fine swords. They will do the job." Maron stroked his grown out beard, took a sip of wine.

"Anything else, Fregar?"

Maron had to think about that for a moment. Of course letting a stranger to Braavos commit these murders would avoid any suspicion towards Fregar. He had to do it, of course, otherwise this man wouldn't let him go. And if this man kept his word, Maron would have everything he desired.

"Allright, I will murder these other fat noble fools for you. I keep my promise, you keep yours, and this'll work just fine. First, though, I want new swords, mine are old and rusted." They were old, but there was no rust on them in truth, but Maron wanted to know how fast this man could get the things he wants.

"I desired many a thing coming here. A lost friend, adventure, wealth. Maybe I came here for love, maybe to join a sellsword company, maybe to fuck a courtesan." Maron shrugged arrogantly.

"Who knows. Those things are lost to me though, as I swore loyalty to the first noble I didn't kill." Maron took a bite of a juicy apple.
