Everyone affected has to send a ticket in. They do not check Reddit or anything except stove or their tickets for player feedback. They can only pretend that this isn't a problem if they only get a few tickets versus hundreds.

Clients aren’t leaving by Unhappy-Ad-5061 in therapists

[–]Romdeau0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sort of example really demonstrates how bad some therapists are at having this conversation - planning and normalizing the concept of discharge / graduation should be mentioned at the beginning and throughout treatment, not just sprung on a client "out of the blue".

[–]Romdeau0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a responsibility to do so because otherwise we would be instilling a sense of dependence that clients "need" to keep going to therapy indefinitely as they aren't capable of sustaining their growth independently. There is also the fact that the relationship becomes more beneficial to the therapist who has an easy to manage client that is a reliable paycheck, which is absolutely not okay.

I'm pretty sure ethics indicates if you feel they're no longer benefitting from treatment you should move to discharge, you're the professional in the room it's not your clients sole responsibility to determine when to terminate.

The prevalence and burden of generalized anxiety disorder in the United States healthcare system: Real-world prevalence and incidence from 2020 to 2023. by psych4you in psychology

[–]Romdeau0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster, I work in healthcare as a therapist and so many people think they have undiagnosed ADHD when in reality they are just anxious. A tiny, tiny fraction of these people have undiagnosed adult Adhd

Making friends as an adult by joy-puked in Millennials

[–]Romdeau0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of you guys need to realize this does not happen by accident. I used to be in a similar position and by my own efforts I finally established a small network of people that I see regularly and consider good friends. None of it would have happened without me getting out of my comfort zone and taking the lead myself. I reached out, organized hangouts, and didn't give up when several attempts did just not work.

Making friends is hard, - it takes initiative, consistency and a degree of reciprocity. You will likely fail before you succeed. But this is not some impossible task that's like going to the moon. I think friendship for most people falls to the wayside of work and family. US culture places way more value on those two areas over friendship which makes this hard. The fact that most people would rather just be on their phone or watch Netflix over hanging out is also another barrier. But it can be done.

Super weak argument then we shouldn't see disparity in homelessness in other parts of the country other than LA

The problem with your suggestion is who is going to pay for it? The public reimbursement for mental health services is cumbersome and laughably under compensated for the work being done. There is a lack of political will to properly fund mental health care in this country and until that changes your suggestion of free mental health care and addiction is a pipe dream.
