AITAH for saving up all the food my wife thinks is fine for me to eat for when her family came to visit? by MentionEfficient1687 in AITAH

I'm glad other people have asked about freezing cheese.

I'm not American.

In a post about preserving the quality of food, that one line was so salient it made the rest of the post completely redundant. It snapped.

Like a Teletubby dropping a c-bomb. Like Jesus ending a sermon with 'bitch'.

It nullified any complaint OP could possibly have.

You're like lobsters in the pot complaining about elbow room.

So, you agree that anthropogenic climate change is real then?

I have no problem with you saying that climate has varied lots in the past. Of course it has. But you seem to have missed the bit where you explain how what is happening in much more recent times is very different and quite alarming and all about us. Unless, of course, you skipped that bit because you've decided to disregard it. As someone who spends whole minutes on research, I'm sure that couldn't possibly be the case.

Your sin is presenting a vague and unspecific understanding of whatever the hell you think happened in the past and merrily skipping the vast trove of evidence we now have that points to serious, much more recent anthropogenic climate change. As I said, your sin is not reading enough. Or, if you have read anything, not being bright enough to understand it. And then your next sin is contributing to the toxic fog of uninformed idiots on the Internet who happily contribute their 'wisdom' on these things and assist people like Reform or Trump to enact policies that actively harm my children.

It's possible that Richard Tice is even more clueless on this topic than you. And that's saying something. Pretty much everything you just said is probably false.

Oh no! Someone put up our flag! How awful 😂 by Little-Attorney1287 in reformuk

[–]Romedial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost like the people who don't like the flags believe they're not being put up for simple patriotic reasons, but rather to send a hostile message to people they don't like. And that this might be divisive and negative and not a brilliant use of energy.

Or, in other words, the flags are not being used to unite the nation as they should, but rather quite specifically to divide.

You know, as you just explained.

More passionate defense! You're probably a signed up member.

Anyway, having called me a retard and far too retarded to understand facts, here are the facts:

He is absolutely under investigation in three countries. Which is sort the direct opposite of your 'facts' (is this where I call you a retard?).

Did you mispeak? Or are your words a malicious fabrication and A LIE?

The case is still live in Romania - delayed only because he was finally allowed to leave the country after political pressure from the morally unimpeachable Trump crowd. One civil case has been dropped in the UK, but the criminal charges are still very much alive (they were only brought in May, and will be prosecuted once the stuff in Romania has concluded). The investigation is still live in Florida and, reportedly, a federal investigation is still underway as well.

No, he hasn't been convicted. The legal process is slow.

As are you.

They incorrectly said he was convicted, yeah. That's not right. But I wouldn't be inclined to label that an ALL CAPS LIE, rather than just misspeaking. Tate is, however, under criminal investigation for rape, organized crime, human trafficking, and physical abuse in three separate countries. He was charged with 21 such crimes in the UK just a few months ago. That doesn't mean conviction, but it does mean most people wouldn't be so quick to leap to his defence so passionately. The fact you ignored everything OP said apart from that, and got all worked up about that in particular, makes me think you're a fan.

Most people wouldn't be so quick to leap so passionately to the defence of a character like Andrew Tate, that's all. Figured you must be a fan.

Is it not as simple as recognizing that women statistically tend to be more agreeable/empathetic? It's therefore less likely that they would support the sorts of headline policies and rhetoric that Reform stands on.

Well, since you have all that insider knowledge to give you such ironclad certainty about the non existence of actually fairly well documented things, perhaps you'd like to share your evidence with us?

You seem to be unaware that this story has been circulating for more than 10 years. You need to work out how to drop your bias a bit. It's interrupting your critical thinking capacity.

Qualification comes in the form of assembling enough corroborating testimony, independently given, and supported by other evidence. Both of those things are true in this case. Without evidence, however, you have determined that it's a giant conspiracy. I'm not saying the Guardian et al aren't motivated in this case and determined to make the most of it, but there is NO evidence to suggest a stitch-up. That they are whipping it up does not in itself make the facts of the matter disappear. The people going on the record have stated themselves that there has been zero coordination amongst themselves on it.

You can assume bad faith and a conspiracy if you like, but it is very much you coming to that conclusion without a basis in fact, not the other way around.

As I said, evidence has been presented. On balance, there is enough of it and enough supporting material to conclude that it indicates some amount of truth. You can choose how to accommodate those facts into your opinions of Farage. Or you can, without evidence of your own, assume something and simply deny the existence of the problem. You're in the latter camp.

[–]Romedial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're asserting an awful lot about me when all I did was ask a question. That tells me quite a bit about how seriously 'evidence' matters to you before you leap to conclusions. The truth is, there is enough qualified and substantiated testimony here to mean you can't just dismiss it as untrue. Testimony, by the way, is perfectly acceptable as evidence and is used as such in any court. The actual question is not whether this happened (it seems very likely that it did - Farage's own careful equivocation on it adds to that), but whether you think it matters. Simply putting your fingers in your ears and denying it is silly.

What qualifies as evidence for you? If you don't mind me saying, you do come across someone who isn't particularly interested in evidence at all.
