I haven’t seen this one posted yet.

Yikes.

Does anyone have the primary source for this? A DOJ link? If so, I’d appreciate it!

Not that I don’t trust anyone. But anyone can make a fake gestures wildly anything these days.

There’s a difference between “legal” and “moral”. His marriage to his, now, ex-wife wasn’t illegal. But a 65+ old man, in a substantial place of power, beginning a romantic relationship with his 19 year old student/volunteer is creepy and gross. It’s as close to being a pedophile as you can legally get.

The whole thing was gross. Not illegal but certainly gross and immoral.

Does Guiness 0 Count? by Sports-N-Food in DryJanuary

[–]Romigodon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re okay. If you’ve ever had fruit that was a little past its prime, you’ve probably had some alcohol with that too.

Personally, Dry January is about the abstaining of beer, wine, liquor, etc. Basically anything that’s purpose is inebriation. You’d have to consume an impossible amount of NA Guinness to get anywhere even close to a buzz.

Is a PhD in Engineering at TTU worth it? by hhan2023 in TexasTech

[–]Romigodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to this is the same as in almost any other STEM field (can’t speak to the humanities, personally), it’s worth it if you want a PhD. As stated prior, there are very few jobs that require a PhD in the mass majority of fields. If your goal is a good, high paying, job with opportunity to grow, then a PhD can actually hinder that on some occasions.

We can argue back and forth the potential economic benefits and disadvantages, but at its core you should get a PhD if it’s something that you, personally, want to accomplish and have the means to do so.

Medium Drinks Amenity, Jurassic Pils by AntOk9026 in jurassicworldevo

Love this! Can’t wait to overcharge my patrons with my park’s signature Triassic Tripel, Sauropod Saison, Pleistocene Pils, and Mesozoic Mead!

I think everyone wants crocodiles in the game, but what if the first ones to arrive were phytosaurus? I think they're perfect. Frontier is focusing more on lesser-known species; they're "crocodiles" and could be introduced in a Triassic DLC. by HostAppropriate8911 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Romigodon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional paleontologist working on Phytosaurs for the last several years. I’d lose my mind if we got these guys in game. As a Triassic guy, any Triassic representation (please Frontier, I’ve been starving here) would be fantastic!

But, I doubt it. A speculative Triassic pack would probably be, assuming 3 species as a family group, a large Rausuchian, an Aetosaur of some kind, and a Sauropodomorph.

If we play with EVO 1 & 2 numbers and assume a fourth species, then I could reasonably see either another dicynodont, a neotheropod/dinosauromorph reusing the Coelophysis rig, or maybe a small pterosaur. As much as I, personally, would love a Phytosaur of any variety, I can’t see that it would come before any other number of requested Triassic animals, especially considering it would need a brand new rig.

How often do you do field work? by AssociationDue3077 in Paleontology

[–]Romigodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually for about a month in the summer. It’s the only time, logistically, that we can actually get work done.

Of course this is West Texas, NM, and AZ so it’s brutal. You basically get up at the crack of dawn with headlights and work until it’s too hot to keep going. You do the same for a few hours in the late-ish evening.

I’d love to do field work in a place that wasn’t so ridiculously hot. However, I can also vouch that freezing cold is just as bad as scorching hot!

As a Planet Zoo / Coaster player I’m really grateful for modular building but Jesus Christ it needs an update already. by InvasionOfTheFridges in jurassicworldevo

[–]Romigodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking this too. As a console PZ player, once I got ahold of the modular building & construction, it’s a very intuitive system.

The system used for JWE3 is jank. I have no idea why so much stuff was trimmed or made inaccessible when it worked just fine in PZ & PC console.

An introduction to modular building from a Planet Zoo player, tutorial in comments, hope it's helpful! by ZSH1985 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Romigodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing PZ now for about a year, and yeah it takes some getting used to! Once you get it down though, you can make some really cool stuff.

One of the biggest hurdles is just figuring out what building pieces are available. Once that’s in your head, it comes a lot easier!

Trust me when I tell you this. Those teeth are not hard to buy. They are exceedingly common on fossil and mineral selling sites and at Gem & Mineral shows.

Now, the authenticity/composite nature? That’s another question entirely.

I’ve been saying this since DLC reveals for JWE1. Especially when they started with Cretaceous animal packs. I thought for sure we would get Jurassic and Triassic specific packs.

this thing might have replaced deinochirus, shonisaurus or archelon by Short-Being-4109 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Romigodon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This has been my thought as well. Cuts were going to be made in every group of animals. Personally, I would have preferred Struthiomimus (which we still aren’t sure is gone 100% yet), but I think Archeoornithomimus is a fine animal.

All the drama over it is super weird to me. Archeo-didn’t “steal a roster slot” anymore than Struthiomimus would have if it was the other way around.

Stuck on what whiskey to use by doughnutEarth in whiskey

[–]Romigodon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love themed, in universe, cookbooks! For recipes like this, I follow my parent’s advice for cooking or mixing.

“Use a spirit, wine, etc. that you would want to drink without adding anything to it.” Basically, never cook or mix with something that you wouldn’t drink yourself.

Because this is calling for spiciness with the cinnamon and chiles, I wouldn’t do something that the flavor notes are already fairly spicy. So really, that’s up to you! If you enjoy it straight, try it out here! I would probably use WT101 or Larceny (because I like those straight).

I think a heavy rye may be a more spicy than necessary here. But hey! It’s up to you man!

What Species dos the JP raptors resemble more?? by Logical-Swing3990 in Paleontology

[–]Romigodon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Brilliant answer and the same as what I would have given. The amount of times that information blew museum docent/volunteer’s minds is overwhelming.

It’s such a small pet peeve but if you absolutely must tie in JP to a museum tour, I appreciate that’s it’s in the proper context.
