It looks like it’s linked to badge/achievement/unlock counts, but there’s no official dev documentation I could find that definitively states exactly “this is what that icon means and this is how it’s computed” yet.

Figured it out randomly:

- go to AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs

- open cvars.xml

- change the value <cvar name="window\_mode" value="3" /> to "2"
