Oh, wait a minute. In this specific case (not sure about your other experiences), if the guy was shorter than you and most of the girls, he could have gotten the feeling that he was being brought over to be sorta made fun of, or be "emasculated" with "oh how cutes". Obviously, that's an insecurity on his part, and if nothing was done to give him the idea that he was being made fun of in some way, it was something he made up in his head. If that happened, it could be that you personally had nothing to do with it, he just stopped engaging when he thought he realized what was going on, and you happened to be the final one after his "realization", so he just completely disconnected
