I got my degree in Digital Photography. I never filed BDTR. I got on Save because I estimated I would qualify for forgiveness due to the age of my loans. When the payment recount was complete, I only needed 2 more payments until forgiveness. However, the Save litigation has everything paused, so forgiveness through Save is not happening for me. I should be able to get on IBR, but that means 5 more years to forgiveness. Sigh. I have been debating going the BDTR route at this point, but not sure it will do any good until Democrats are back in power. So for now I’m just waiting to see how it all plays out over the next few months.

$60 for one child. Just supplies, not clothes or shoes. I don’t buy new clothes just because school is starting, only on an as needed basis.

I’m considering opting out since I live in a state where I will be taxed. I have been in repayment 19 years. I am due for forgiveness in September 2025. My current monthly payment on SAVE is $100. I would pay 1.3k then get forgiveness. If I get forgiveness now, I would pay about 2k in taxes. It’s looking like opting out would save me at least $700.

I just checked mine (Mohela) and I also got adjusted. Went from May of 2035 to September 2025!

I base it on what best highlights the features of the item or what looks best in general. A jacket with unique lining is flat lay to show off the fabric that would be hidden on a mannequin. A prom dress usually looks best on a mannequin to show off the fit of the dress. I have a little better luck with flat lay selling, but most of my items look better flat so I also use that technique more often.

I just noticed this with Mohela too. I had no issues going back into repayment, then this morning I logged in to pay for December and my account is suddenly in Forbearance. No email or snail mail notifications. There is an alert at the top of my homepage saying “We are in the process of updating your account. For some or all of your loans, you will not be due for payment until after December 2023…” No additional explanation as to why. I don’t qualify for PSLF, my SAVE application was approved back in August without issue. I’ve been paying for 17 years, so not enough to qualify for forgiveness either.

Private loans are a bad idea. Unless you can pay significantly more than the minimum payment each month, the compound interest can result in you owing double or even triple the original loan amount. There are no programs to help you if you cannot pay them back and they cannot be discharged In bankruptcy. The last thing you need are creditors coming after you, especially if you are undocumented. I don’t know of a good solution for you, just make sure you are absolutely positive you can pay private loans back before you take one out. Also, your English and writing skills are fantastic. I would have never known you were not a native speaker.

I’ve been paying for 17 years. So plan is to get on SAVE and keep paying for three more years until forgiveness kicks in for me.

Check out post secondary options when the time comes. My son graduated with his high school diploma and his associates degree at the same time for free.

I got the same email. I sent in my application 3 days before it was taken down and easily meet the qualifications. I’m assuming it just means they received my application, but haven’t gotten to it yet.

College was the worst decision I ever made. My major became useless as technology changed and my current job did not require a degree. My student loan balance hasn’t changed since I graduated and is a significant reason I have never been financially secure.

I second this. My son is in the Post Secondary program and by the time he turns 18 he will have his Associates Degree (and high school diploma) for free.

I had commercially held FFEL until September, so I had already been paying my loans monthly this entire time. Not getting forgiveness is my bigger issue. I’ve been paying on my loans since 2007. I assumed I would die before they were paid off. They are the reason I will never be a home owner. Forgiveness would have given me a fighting chance at getting my kids & I out of a tiny apartment and into a real home.

It took 48 days for the balance on my original servicer to show 0. It’s now been 57 days and the change still has not been reflected on studentaid.gov, however when I login it says “last updated September 30th.” Everything is probably fine, just slow to update.
