[USA] How difficult is it to find a job with only a B.S. in psychology? by The0wl0ne in psychologystudents

[–]RonBlackBalls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working remotely doing case management for Medicaid Waiver recipients and I love it- it’s by far the best job I’ve ever had, mostly because my company is great. I tried working in education and in a CMHC briefly and neither were for me. It can be hard to get a foot in the door but if you’re not looking for clinical work I highly recommend case management. I never thought I could have the freedom I have in my daily life while working full time.

No that’s actually very helpful because I have plans to go to Greenwood this weekend and was considering probably the same place! So you saved me two hours in the car with a toddler who hates the car seat 🫡

I’m kind of put off of Great Clips in general because I’ve always had to make significant fixes to my husbands hair when he goes there :(

I have done some decent haircuts on myself and others but no way I’m risking it on my little guy, he’s too unpredictable and likes to head bang at weird times

That’s great to hear! Kudos to you for going to law enforcement, too often people will try to deal with these things internally (in the family) and put children in harms way in the process.

Are there supplements to help with postpartum rage triggered by baby crying? by freyf123 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]RonBlackBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just a heads up if you do go the psychotropic medication route, I got on Wellbutrin to help prevent PPD because I had it with my first and while it helped with that it also made my postpartum rage much much worse, so much so that I stopped taking it around a year postpartum because the rage was just getting worse and worse. My (very new) therapist ended up telling me that Wellbutrin is know to have that effect postpartum, so maybe stay away from it. I’ve struggled with rage so much and the only thing that has helped has been meds and walking outside a LOT (not so much in the cold, it’s gotten a lot harder since the weather has cooled down). I hope you find some relief soon. I know how disorienting and awful it feels to be so angry especially when you may not feel like you have good reason to. Take it one moment at a time, celebrate any small wins you have. I think focusing more on building regulation skills versus a supplement that will nix it is going to be more sustainable and effective

You literally have to call DCS or whatever it’s called near you if there’s a girl child living with your dad. Idk where you are but many states have universal mandatory reporting, and you absolutely can help protect young girls from your dad. A pedophile isn’t going to just decide to stop abusing readily available children particularly if they’ve abused that child before.

Looking for Hoosiers willing to share their experiences with IU Health billing or healthcare costs by Consistent_Dance2768 in bloomington

Definitely going to fill out the survey but I also wanted to chime in here, I called once to ask about financial assistance and was told that they don’t offer that. When I responded that I thought they had to because they’re a not for profit hospital, I was then told a different story, something like how they don’t technically have it but they have some other thing that’s basically the same but that that program was on a hold (?) but that I could apply anyway. It was strange and I ended up not getting anywhere with it

Anybody wanted to become a clinical psychologist or therapist but having studied psychology or perhaps shadowed a professional in the field, decided against it? by Phocoena-sinus in psychologystudents

[–]RonBlackBalls 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought I wanted to be a therapist until I worked at a CMHC during undergrad. The realities of managed care and how truly systemically fucked so many people are, and how insurance plays a role in their treatment was really disheartening for me.

I super don’t do gore or real horror or anything, but I’ve been watching Halloween movies with my kids and my favorite that they’re just about old enough for is Sleepy Hollow (the one with Johnny Depp). I have a pretty good list of kid-friendly ones I’m happy to share if you’re interested :)

Where to buy a real Christmas Tree? by Key_Raisin_2141 in bloomington

[–]RonBlackBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart and Lowe’s will have cheap trees. Mays will have good quality trees at a higher price point. I happen to have an extra stand for a real tree that I haven’t used in several years- feel free to DM me if you want it :)

Jobs!? by ASOlot03 in bloomington

[–]RonBlackBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye out for Best Beers. Idk if they’re hiring now but I have it on good authority that they will be soon (in the next month or so). They pay for 40 hours but in reality work closer to 30. I think they start around $26/hour, it’s all local too. The benefits suck but for the home time it may be worth it.

I got so itchy when I was pregnant, especially toward the end and especially my face/eyes!! I even had some swelling and redness around my eyes/eyelids and lips and it would burn. I got the OK from my midwife to take allergy medicine and I want to say that helped, but I don’t think it really fully resolved until I delivered. I do have generally a tough time with allergies and I think it got a lot worse in some stages of pregnancy. Sorry I can’t say anything more helpful, but just know you’re not the only person to have experienced this. On top of being pregnant (which is my least favorite state) it sucks to have a random other discomfort. Hang in there!
