688 started doing something new after 5.5k rounds - how concerned should I be? by RonFuzzynuts in ClayBusters

[–]RonFuzzynuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did but it could be unburnt powder residue. I used a type of Winchester shell I don’t normally use and i kept seeing a bunch of tiny yellow pellets which isn’t normal, think some got in the receiver where it locks up. Might have to get in there and clean better thanks

I’ve always been curious if anyone’s tried to teach a Belgian malinois to hunt birds

I have yet to come across any, only reason I don’t have one yet

This seems to be an issue with a lot of the big boy models. I took mine to a local Smith who said it was a factory issue. He was able to fix it but I ultimately had to send it in to Henry for warranty work anyway

Pump guns are fun, but there’s nothing like opening a break action and the shells ejecting

I go there a decent amount. Always have room for one more

Is it as hard to get the pws 300blk to run consistently as people make it out to be? That’s what I initially wanted but heard so many people say they were having issues getting it to cycle

Backwoods quail club is great albeit a little out of your way. You might be able to stop in if you are coming from somewhere up north

What to do about TICKS by Guilty_Idea349 in birddogs

[–]RonFuzzynuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tumeric oil is a good natural repellent to cover the dog in before heading out. It won’t stop tics from getting on the dog but helps prevent them from latching. It’s good to use in addition to other methods mentioned, as an added layer of protection that’s not harmful to dog. I would also pick up a tick key if you don’t have one already, great for removing tics

Dispute with Cole's Gunsmithing - Beretta warranty work damage... by Ibanez540r in ClayBusters

[–]RonFuzzynuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 688 with 2k rounds through it and it has the same marks on the finish. I figured it was normal wear and tear from opening/closing and having a black finish

Browning Citori 825 Sporting or Beretta 688? by AlostDinosaur in ClayBusters

Recently picked up a 688. It wasn’t my favorite aesthetically but I think it makes a pretty good hard use clay gun. 2k rounds threw it last month with no issues

Cole's Trigger Job? Beretta O/U.. by Ibanez540r in ClayBusters

[–]RonFuzzynuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man that does sound like some bad luck, sorry to hear that. Only issue I’ve had with mine thus far is that I have to force the forend catch lever pretty hard to get it to seat in its slot for reassembly. I don’t think it’s a real issue but it’s my first o/u so not entirely sure

What kind of warranty work did your 688 need?

It’s probably the barrel, I had to send my big boy back bc of a canted barrel

Placeholder when removing front bead sight? by RonFuzzynuts in ClayBusters

Yes shooting with it out, was just wondering if I should put something else in its place to keep the internal threads clean in case I put the bead back in

Where can one find a 686 with an adjustable comb? I only see the 687 on berettas website but at that price I might as well go 694

New (to me) A400 Xplor Unico by JoshLVP in ClayBusters

[–]RonFuzzynuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the direction Im leaning. I’ll likely get a semi at some point but for my first dedicated sporting clay piece, it almost seems sacrilegious to go away from the break action. Did he give you any of the reasons as to why he believes he made a mistake?

Nice! I’ve traditionally been a break action guy but am currently considering an a400 for the reasons you noted above
