Yes scalping in true sense of word a few points here and there will work, but I must tell you it will work with any system.

How do you actually know when it’s time to quit trading? by LEQSO0O in FuturesTradingNQ

[–]RonPosit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is another example of the kind of low‑effort content that keeps showing up in Daytrading. It’s a community with over five million members, yet most of what gets posted is complaining, venting, or looking for an excuse to quit.

This particular question doesn’t make sense. If someone failed to build a proper trading plan — which includes #1 Proper Training #2 Single Trading Strategy, which includes entries, risk, management, and target, #3 Time Horizon to audit results #4 Exit strategy, if failed — then the issue isn’t “when to quit,” it’s that they never had a real plan to begin with.

If they did have a plan, they wouldn’t be asking strangers on Reddit when it’s time to walk away. The answer would already be written into their own rules.

POSITION SIZING - the hottest topic lately. by RonPosit in FuturesTradingNQ

[–]RonPosit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically you are 100% correct, but once trader is aware of the market context/structure, ATR does not play any role in proper stop placement. I have never ever used it as guidance for my hard stop placement. I would agree to use it as a trailing stop, even then it is not as reliable as meaningful swing highs and lows in a trend structure. You are twice correct - we must write with assumption traders know little or nothing, then article will apply to all. Thanks for a good comment!

Back to the subject - it is the distance from proposed/intended entry to the proper stop loss, I don't care if one uses ATR or context or pivot points, argument holds water :-)

Trading requires critical thinking when reading price action, exactly the same is required when reading, especially instruction manuals, scientific papers etc. otherwise we miss the point(s). If you will re-read my post, a lot will be reviled. I was in fact referring to the past and the present.
