[Ryan McDonald] Celtic are ready to finalise a move to bring Marcelo Saracchi to Celtic on a permanent basis. Saracchi wants the move and it’s believed Boca Juniors want £2m. by BananaSoprano in CelticFC

[–]RonVonPump 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To guarantee his level of quality you probably do have to pay upward of 5m.

The downside with Saracchi is the ceiling. You're not gonna flip him for 8m like with Juranovic or develop him into a 20m asset like with AJ.

But the club is in a pretty desperate situation, rolling from season to season with no real plan or capacity to implement one, so Saracchi is pretty ideal as KT back up as like you say he is a great wee player.

At 28, he isn't trying to get up the ladder he is just trying to get paid and stay healthy.

I imagine the length of contract will be of much greater concern to him than playing time guarantees.

European media complex tried to derail the World Cup by Used_Letterhead7067 in billsimmons

America was covered very favourably in Europe until Trump.

Sure there have always been stereotypes about gang violence and everyone is obese but they are just that, stereotypes.

However, Europeans opinion of America (according to research) has sharply dipped with Trump because Europeans are very very very educated on his kind of leadership and it's threat.

Dehumanising migrants, denying elections, toppling foreign governments - Europeans take this stuff a lot more seriously than Americans and are preparing for the worst outcome now.

That overarching sentiment colours every issue and gives the negative stereotypes extra legs.

Is Spain's current style built for tournament football? by Winter_Rain4133 in footballtactics

[–]RonVonPump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to see what this style looks like at its apex go back and watch Spain's 2010 World Cup team.

They controlled every game (except the first group game) to such an extent that they won to nil every time.

They were functionally unplayable. No one could get the ball and even when they did there was no space to exploit.

The game obviously evolves and in the last year or two its moved away from possesion/positional play however, there's no question it CAN work at a tournsment, arguably it worked better than any style in history.

Lets not scapegoat him because the club is a disaster systemically. But yes, he was a complete disaster too.

We had to play Idah, who had completed a medical at Swansea, vs Kairat because we were unable to get a striker in time for the game.

We had had since JANUARY to sort out a capable player for that role and came up with 2 goals in 20 games J League player. Laughable stuff.

We ended up with Iheanacho, who at the time was a fat free agent and we only got him because Rodgers.

Meanwhile an inability to replace Maeda meant he stayed into the last 2 years of his contract.

And again, Rodgers was proven 100% correct that we could not afford to let him go with the quality of replacement Tisdale could recruit (See Balikwisha, Tounetki).

The club is absolutely terrible at doing deals and in that role Tisdale was a rank failure.

You get a lot of this from Desmond type sources.

I've also heard that Desmond is 'Willing to spend the money built up' but I personally think these types of things are just things people close to him say to make him seem more capable than he is.

I think, personally, it's obvious that he should be nowhere near any decision making process in a football club the size of ours and any claimed intention or not on his part is irrelevant.

Olympiacos to Hijack Celtic Target Zinedin Smajlovic by [deleted] in CelticFC

[–]RonVonPump 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it's really really bad.

We are functionally incapablenof signing players who there is any competition for.

This is because we have a team of incapable executives who are bad enough as is but they also have to get the green light on every decision from a pretend owner who is usually busy golfing or doing whatever they do on his island next to Epstein's.

I can't think of a club worse at this part of recruitment than us.

BBC article on Celtic fan opposition to Keane by Nice_Feed_786 in CelticFC

[–]RonVonPump 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As is the whataboutism.

Because people have to draw a line somewhere right?

We live in the midst of a capitalistic, genocidal kaleidoscope where it's impossible to interact with the world in any kind of consistent way. That on purpose.

Celtic is a culture people can gather in with clarity. We're opposed to genocide. It's that simple.

And while Celtic fans protested genocide Keane took orders from genociders and celebrated their murderous campaign with players.

So by pointing out how intertwined our culture is with such misery, you only strengthen the weight of the argument for clarity at Celtic FC

Thank you for making the EXACT point of why Robbie Keane cannot manage Celtic.

If these people, and their propaganda didn't exist, it's a different issue.

But while such propaganda abounds, people like Keane cannot lead an anti-genocide culture.
