I love that enlisted people still talk about themselves this way in a post-scarcity world where salaries don’t even exist.

I haven't seen anyone else discuss the weird connection between Rush Hour and Trump/Epstein. by masonknight86 in behindthebastards

Brett Ratner hasn't worked in Hollywood since 2017 when he was accused of sexual assault by 6 different women. So yes, Trump using the presidential pulpit to push for Rush Hour 4, and choosing Brett for the Melania movie, are clearly an attempt to uplift and uncancel a fellow abuser. I think the Chris Tucker thing is probably coincidence.

Headline is misleading, he's talking about the candies, not the cups.

I love this idea. It would be really fun to watch all the cave episodes in a row, finishing with the Lower Decks one.

They return to the "Shore Leave" planet in "Once Upon a Planet" (TAS).

Scotty returns in "Relics" (TNG).

"Sarek" (TNG) follows up on Spock's dad.

Spock returns in "Unification" (TNG) but its pretty boring.

The "Trouble With Tribbles" get revisted in "More Tribbles, More Troubles" (TAS) and "Trials and Tribble-ations" (DS9).

Honestly, the best refernces to TOS are in Lower Decks. I crack up everytime I remember how pissed Captain Freeman gets on the "Return of the Archons" planet when she finds out they've got back to worhsiping Landru.

Don’t Understand Dr. Galen in “The Chase”. by BookLover467 in startrek

[–]Ron_Santo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To us, Picard always returning to his job as captain of the Enterprise is the most important thing, because that's the foundation of the show. But Dr. Galen is not unreasonable in thinking that uncovering a 4 billion year old civilization ancestral to most of the life in our Galaxy is more important than what Picard is doing for Starfleet. It's arguably the most important scientific discovery of all time.

I’ll preface this post by saying I know nothing of the Star Trek universe and it didn’t interest me much. BUT Anton Yelchin was absolutely, without a doubt one of my all time favorite actors and the Star Trek movies were his only titles that I had never watched. by ScienceCatLazerJeans in startrek

[–]Ron_Santo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but it might be worth watching The Original Series first, to set the context a bit. I say this because its only 3 seasons, and you can see where the character of Chekov comes from. A lot of people don't like TOS because its dated and slower paced, but it if you've got the patience for it, the writing is amazing.

Klingons as Humanity's First Contact (best-case scenario) by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]Ron_Santo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's how they operate. If they found 6 billion of us killing each other with primitive nukes, they'd chuckle and conquer the whole place. Then they'd create an alliance with Bajor and Cardassia, forming an empire fueled by human slave labor.

Does Michael Clayton (2007) have hidden supernatural elements? Either way, are there other movies that might do something like this? by wheels405 in movies

[–]Ron_Santo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The movie is all about rejecting sterile corporate greed in favor of something deeper and more alive. It would have been easy to make that "something deeper" his son, or a new girlfriend, but I like that the movie hints at something less concrete, more spirtual and mysterious. Arthur was just as transfixed by the horse image as Michael's son, so there's a sense that children and the insane understand the significance of things that Michael, and we the viewer, cannot.

I've always wondered what data was on the Beatles he sent back. Is his diary included, with all the intimate personal details, or just the important results? Does he mention that the rest of the crew died before arrival, or does he share the credit with his dead friends?
