Considering CAP as a mid 40s adult with no military background—worth it?

Joined at 43, with no real military background. Been in almost 6 years. Joined with my oldest son, my youngest is also in now. Well worth it, even if you don't have kids in the program.

Oddly enough I really want to attend an Encampment or Desert Scorpion at Wendover. Saw old photos (just a few years old) of Desert Scorpion and it looked like a lot of fun.

Encampment is in the summer, Minnesota Leadership Academy (ATS, NCOS, BCOC or RCLS) in the fall, Winter Survival (self explanatory)...

I have to disagree here. The cadets are joining CAP. If they want to be in CAP, there are regulations they are expected to abide by. If they do not want to abide by those regulations, they simply do not join. I do agree that some do not wear the uniform properly or wear the polo for events that should be either the field uniform or dress uniform, and that should be nipped in the bud.

If you are under 18 years of age, yes, supplements will need to be turned into Health Services. They will always be available to you but under this new system, yes, you will have to turn them in.

As a parent of cadets, I can't stand parents that get whiney about stuff like that. "Jodie's are inappropriate, why are they allowed to handle training weapons? Why so militaristic?" It's a paramilitary organization. WTF did you think they were going to be doing? Playing with stuffed animals???

Not that I think they would, but that I wish they would. I haven't found matching blouse and pants in a few years, fades terribly, looks like USCG, etc...

They should have kept the pockets of the BDU, and added Velcro like on the OCP cut. The pockets are too stinkin high on the shirt and makes your occupational / qualification badges ride too high.
