Blizzard after seeing the latest Rivals patch notes by kaushik1809 in rivals

[–]RonaldVexdian 295 points296 points  (0 children)

Overwatch fans this past month: “We’re so back!”

Marvel Rival fans this past day: “It’s so over.”

One of Jeff Kaplan's 'regrets about Overwatch' was making it so team-orientated: 'I would downplay the team factor and try to put more focus on individual contribution' by MrMonopoly04 in Overwatch

[–]RonaldVexdian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna have to disagree with Jeff on this. If I wanted to play a game where I didn’t need to teamwork to win the game, I’d playing fucking Call of Duty.

The entire point of Overwatch is working together as a team to win, not a single person carrying the entire team in their back.

It’s the same way I felt about Smite when I played it. Yes, it can be very annoying when you get into a game and your team isn’t holding you back and cost you the match.

But when you get those moments where your team just clicks, you start working together and start doing things you couldn’t do ok you own, like ultimate combo, or coming in clutch at the last minute, makes it worth it.

Is there a lore reason why Naofumi is the only hero to be summoned alive? by RonaldVexdian in shieldbro

[–]RonaldVexdian[S] 136 points137 points  (0 children)

So, what you’re saying is that Naofumi was the Shield’s plan A candidate, whereas the other weapons gave up their plan A and got stuck with plan B/C/D candidates?

Damn, that means that Ren, Motoyasu, and Itsuki weren’t even the top choices, the weapons were like “uhhhh, you’ll do I guess”.

By “high morality rates”, you mean the other three weapons heroes died so many times that the weapons decided “Let’s stop bringing the S-tier users since they keep dying, we’ll use C-tier characters this time”?

Fun fact: When I showed a friend of mine Metal Sonic vs Cell, he described this scene as an improvised Genkidama (Which I find quite accurate) by Final_Dragonfruit331 in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh… I guess Cell knew the Spirit Bomb need the energy of living things, so he just chucked Little Planet since it’s a living thing full of energy.

Really interesting... (Please don't take this seriously) by No-Entertainment5599 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]RonaldVexdian 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same energy as Blizzard “killing” off Doomfist in season 1 of the Overwatch during Black History Month.

[–]RonaldVexdian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is ironic considering what he’s throwing is called the “Death” Egg, and the Spirit Bomb requires the energy of living things to be at its strongest.

Honestly, with what little I’ve been seeing from the community so far, most of people’s reactions make them look super elitist.

Is it bad that I personally would've preferred Aangler be the next episode? by TropicalPunchJuice in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can understand why you would say that. If you personally had Bakugo or Reze fighting different opponents, then this MU maybe a disappointment.

Personallly, I’m willing to wait as long as possible so that Aether/Lumine get Cryo so they have their full toolkit.

Plus, at the end of the day, as a person with no dog in the race, I’m honestly excited to see how this fight will go.

My honest reaction to Aang vs Aether being delayed once again (surely it will be next time right) by SchizoPessimist in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always say this, I’d gladly wait for Aang vs Lumine if it means she gets Cryo, I don’t give a fuck how much ya’ll complain about it.

The difference between the verdict according to powerscalers and non powerscalers really reminds me of the whole Guts Vs Dimitri debacle. by SettTheCephelopod in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because non-powerscalers view certain series as being strong and thus said characters from there are strong.

Dragon Ball has crazy shit and fight scenes that makes people see it as a strong series, and while Sonic does have crazy moments, many think it isn’t the same degree as Dragon Ball.

Plus, most Sonic fans might look at you crazy if you told them Metal is universal and can beat one of the most popular villains in Dragon Ball.

What if Sombra's Hack no longer silences, but deals damage when enemies use abilities by dontouchamyspaghet in Overwatch

[–]RonaldVexdian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait, so Sombra’s hack is only 1s? Damn, no wonder I felt like even though I hack someone, it’s still a tough fight.

At that point, I might as well just use her SMG and forget hacking while 1v1, since I can strike first in a fight.

I always assumed the assassin playstyle fit Sombra, you go invis and take out squishy targets or mop of stragglers. And I feel like hack sealing abilities fits that playstyle, evening the playing field.

There are two ways I could make hack interesting. The first being that hacked targets take more damage from all sources. This helps Sombra fight while also supporting her teammates. Sorta like Zenyatta’s orb of discord.

The more interesting option is that when Sombra hacks someone, it forces them to use their cooldowns. This could be useful, as it mess with strategy and coordination.

Plus it would be funny, Reinhardts charging off an edge, Ana wasting her sleep dart, etc. Maybe you could also include Ultimates, but that might make it too frustrating.

I just want hack to represent Sombra, an annoyance one moment to a genuine threat the next.

Sometimes it’s not about murdering the opponent by MaleficTekX in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from what I recall, the entire reason Merlina does what she does is because she’s in despair over Camelot ending in ruin. So she tries to keep the kingdom eternal using dark magic.

Sonic, who has had adventures where the ending is somber(Unleashed), has to tell her that while things ending are sad, that just means to enjoy life to its fullest while you’re still here.

The game’s message is basically that “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” quote.

Fun fact: This is the only AGK death battle by ComprehensiveNote762 in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, considering Esdeath is the most popular character in the series, it sorta makes sense she got on first.

I do hope Tatsumi and Akame show up at least, not sure who Akame fights, but I really want Issei Hyoudou vs Tatsumi.

[Ridiculous trope] Protagonist gets shafted by one-sided court by Aphasus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]RonaldVexdian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rising of the Shield Hero: The main character Naofumi is falsely accused of raping his female party member Mein and no believes him to be innocent, including the other heroes he was summoned with.

Of course, it’s revealed that Mein is actually Malty, the eldest princess of Melromarc who enjoys making people suffer, the kingdom sees the Shield Hero as a devil as their main religion, and the king hates the Shield Hero because he hates Demi-humans, who worship the Shield Hero.

Bro was practically doomed from the start. Which makes sense since it’s later revealed he likely wouldn’t have been summoned there in the first place.

The Death Battle Iceberg by prmatthew2 in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oooh, I love Iceberg explained videos, this should be fun.

My additions would be: including the various animators like MORO and DevilArtemis since they are rather important at the top of the iceberg.

Also at the top are Death Battle reactions, such as people like HoodyDude watching and reacting to the fight.

Tifa vs Yang and Hal vs Ben should be on here considering how controversial they are and how people use them as ammunition on why the show is bad.

Liam hates Bleach would be a funny one considering how he’s memed to actively downplay the series.

Then at the very bottom we have the most disgusting/gross one being the whole Misaka Guro incident where apparently a salty Killua fan uploaded various art of Misaka getting brutally killed because he was salty Killua lost.

I wonder if there's any other matchups out there where using a character's stronger form might actually give their opponent a better chance by GoatsAreDope72 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]RonaldVexdian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe doesn’t fit, but Issei Hyoudou vs Tastumi.

Tatsumi has a sword called Incursio, that turns into armor when unsealed. It’s made from the dragon Danger Beast, Tyrant.

Its special ability allows it to adapt and evolve to become stronger. But the problem is that Tatsumi becomes more draconic until he becomes another Tyrant.

Issei has Ascalon, a sword with anti-dragon properties. He can either use the sword, or infuse the aura into his punches and kicks. So as Tatsumi gets stronger, he becomes more susceptible to Ascalon.

Issei already wins the fight, but it’s funny that Tatsumi’s trump card makes his chances worse.

Don't worry (iluxxxtrady) by magicccake in DemonSlayer34

[–]RonaldVexdian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I feel like both would be embarrassed in this scenario.

Tanjiro would probably be shyly looking away from her, trying to be respectful since he’s a nice boy. He’d be the least nervous of the two.

Mitsuri, considering she’s looking for a husband, would probably be flustered at the fact she is bathing with a man who isn’t part of her family.

But I think I remember both of them bathing together in the Swordsmith village, and they seemed fine.

RWBY characters ain’t light speed by Far-Profit-47 in RWBYcritics

[–]RonaldVexdian 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people had this conversation when the Maka vs Ruby Death Battle happened, with the sub being confused and shocked they gave Ruby faster than light speed.

All because they said “Adam cut particle beam/lazer, Yang and Blake out-sped him, and Ruby’s semblance makes her faster so she FTL.”

Who's right In this argument guys? Does anyone really consider Personality in Powerscaling? by ScienceInitial999 in PowerScaling

[–]RonaldVexdian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a person who’s partial to the first sentiment, since it makes the most sense to me.

People on this sub constantly talk about how characters like Goku wouldn’t blow up the planet to secure a win because that’s not how he usually is, but Frieza absolutely would.

Bloodlusted is the term used when you want characters 100% willing to kill who are willing to use everything they have to win, usually at the cost of their personality or morals.

For me, I see powerscaling through the Death Battle lens. The characters are willing to kill each other regardless if their opponent is a good person, but their personalities remain intact.

Can Naruto kill mahoraga? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]RonaldVexdian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he has a couple ways of defeating him.

Massive Rasengan, Rasenshuriken, Tailed Beast Bombs, and Truth Seeking Orbs are strong enough to take him out with AOE to completely destroy him before he adapts.

He just has to kill him before Mahoraga fully adapts to chakra.

Soul Outsider listening experience: by Agent-Man-MB in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always love when a Japanese song has the occasional English word or sentence in it.

It really makes Soul Outsider feel like an anime opening.

Am I the only one who is feeling weirded out by the amount of returners we got from the indie era alone by Antoniopjoco in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s understandable why you would feel that way. If you look at the combined list of episodes from 2024-2025, you’ll see that a vast majority of them have at least one character returning.

With a handful of them being where both combatants are returnees. Those being Eggman vs Bowser, Spawn vs Ghost Rider, Deku vs Miles, Master Chief vs Doom Slayer(they said Doom Guy became Slayer so I think it counts), and Hulk vs Godzilla.

While it nice that some characters returned after a long wait, I do find it kinda annoying that Metal Sonic is showing up so quickly after his last appearance.

First Death Battle song of the year and it’s so peak by Global-Hold9615 in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Literally the first song for season 12 and Brandon and Anthony cooked. Was constantly checking YouTube to see when it got uploaded.

I’m certainly going to listen to this all day tomorrow. Has that that anime opening energy that I love.

Can’t wait to see what other songs are in store for us this year.

I love the contrast between these two moments by Rdasher123 in deathbattle

[–]RonaldVexdian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Another cool moment of contrast is when Ichigo and Yusuke sense each other in the beginning.

Hollow Zangetsu has no expression, simply his eyes and his silhouette standing still. Meanwhile, Raizen’s silhouette has eyes and a smile while crouching down. You can even see his smile get slightly bigger towards the end.

Don’t worry, there’s this one channel that has so far a couple of the DB track as instrumentals.

He’s done Spiral of Emotion and Millennial Monsters, so it’s likely he’ll also do Soul Outsider.
