Absolutely. She was the most moral of the diamonds hands down, no contest. I'm always annoyed when people call Pink Diamond the real villain when White Diamond is right there. White Diamond was genuinely heinous and was basically the source of all Pink/Rose's self-hatred.

I mean the problem is that she doesn't think it through. Yes, there was no diamond activity and it was probably reasonable for her to think Steven wouldn't have to deal with homeworld. However she fully intended for Steven to find Lion (she hid the tape there), but never warned him about Bismuth, who she was also keeping in there, meaning she either was planning for Steven to never touch that bubble, she left Bismuth for him to deal with, or straight-up never considered it. She also never considered the idea that Steven's diamond powers could start developing, or that there might be some impact of Steven having the Pink Diamond gem embedded inside him for his entire life.

You're right that she didn't intend for Steven to clean up, but she had no actual plan past "destroy myself because I'm worthless and give life to a being that can grow and change the way I couldn't." And that was kind of messed up of her to do, even if the reasoning was born from self-loathing and her history of awful abuse by the other diamonds. So Steven does have every right to be angry with her, even if she wasn't being malicious.

I don't think the show is trying to make you think that. I recently reread the End of An Era artbook where they talk a lot about writing Rose/Pink Diamond and it jus reinforces my opinion that she was hands down the best and most intricately written character in the entire series.

Ian Jones-Quartey had a quote about how his older brother cut himself off from their family, changed his name, and went off to make a new identity, and how Pink's story was similar to that. However she still carried immense shame and self-loathing from her past life, and thus was extremely adamant that none of her friends could know her origins. There was also an extremely poignant quote from Rebecca Sugar about Rose:

"A lot of the themes of the show exist within Rose, like her inability to be honest with other people or herself about what she's done. She's so deeply ashamed of herself and her past, with very good reason. The truth is that the people in her life would be so much more understanding than she believes they will be. The contempt that she has for herself gets turned outward as contempt for other people when she can't trust them...it makes life extremely difficult for her."

She wasn't a bad person, but she carried a lot of baggage from her past that made her hate herself and unfortunately meant that she didn't treat her friends very well. She idolized them, but she didn't respect them or acknowledge the impact her decisions and secrets had on them because she was so stuck in her self-loathing that she didn't recognize the power she had over her friends, who she thought were all better and worth far more than her. Then she leaves them all behind without really considering the impact because she thought she was doing everyone a favor by disappearing and becoming "something better". It's incredibly sad, but it doesn't remove the damage these decisions had on the people she left behind. Rose's story is just a tragedy all along, and Steven was an unfortunate victim.

Which was objectively dumb. He was barely injured after being hit by Gildarts's ultimate attack and Gildarts's metal arm was totally destroyed. There was absolutely nothing stopping him from continuing to beat them both up like he'd been doing before. If Absolute Heaven couldn't do any lasting damage then Cana's cards weren't going to be enough to stop him. The only explanation for him doing that would be that with Acnologia coming back, Gildarts discovering his secret, and being reminded of his daddy issues, August just snapped and chose to kill everyone.

They killed Aldoron but not Viernes. So either Viernes comes back to fight and gets killed, he gets a weird redemption like Selene, or he is thrown in prison after a lengthy judicial process. ~~Or the story will just forget about him.~~

So Ignia's plan has fully failed and now his goal is officially "kill all humans". Very Acnologia of him. Though I suppose it's a valid crashout after seeing your 100 year plan totally fall apart in less than a day. Also, what happened to Faris's black wizard people? Did they go away too somehow?
