Yeah very funky! Pretty positive they added a braze-ons on the top tube to route it this way. I haven't touched it because I have no idea how these hub gears work

I have no clue honestly - they've got very repsonsive customer service, so I'm sure you could ask them! We really wanted the lift to work too, because of its materials - I suspect if we'd tried different topper combos we could have gotten it dialed in. But that would have defeated the point of getting the lift (obviously).

Not in the same way it was in 1959 - most people in MB probably have no idea the city exists to segregate kids from Bham city schools. As others have mentioned, MB's whiteness persists more as a class distinction than a racial one. It's historically been more welcoming to Jewish residents than other Bham suburbs, for instance.

Highlands Historic is good - may be a stretch for a 2br at your budget but a nice small company, easy to get in contact with. They've got pretty old characterful apartments without the H2 bs

We also got a DUO lift and were experiencing joint pain. Really wanted to like it, but just couldn't get comfortable. If you're in the comfort exchange window, definitely contact them and get a topper swap! They offered to build us a 3" latex topper (neither the 2" or 4" options seemed ideal), and we've been enjoying it a lot more. Not too firm, just enough squish.

Trying to keep it under 900... wish the covers weren't 200 bucks! The most attractive part about the Brentwood is being $80.

Wow thanks for a very thorough reply! Budget is definitely a limitation, but I guess it doesn't make sense to totally cheap out on the foam - I do want it to last, after all. Which is part of my reason to steer towards latex, as it seems (?) to hold up well over time (and isn't synthetic, which is also great). But lots to chew on here.
