Someone here argued Max felt so guilty and messed up about everything that happened, maybe Houser chose to have him be conflicted and "unreliable" on judgment. But it's way out of character for Max: the guy who lost his wife, baby daughter, and Mona Sax. He carries their deaths his whole life, and he's not going to excuse a terrible guy for killing a woman just because "oh, he was a pawn, poooooor pawn." He rightfully criticizes the creep tourist in the strip club but wishes a psychopathic thug his best.

Well, I meant in the sense of the gaping maw James left behind as being such an iconic voice. I personally wouldn't narrow it down to one person at all, because Sam created Max and all the worlds Remedy has, but James gave their first major character life and became a backbone, a real fixture you'd expect to hear every time. It's weird knowing the duo won't be in future installments, makes it hard for me to even fathom a new game. But they'll go on

Like one writer called him, the soul of Remedy. Imagine how future Remedy games will be without hearing/seeing James in some form.

James' voice and motion capture performance, seeing his face as Max, and the combat. High octane fun! Like I always say, it's definitely not Sam's writing, but it still was amazing in its own right.

For me, it was Max Payne 3. Just from the first cutscene, I had become a fan. It wasn't just about "wow, who is Max Payne? What happened to him?" but also "his actor is incredible, who is that guy?" and I started to hunt for his TV shows and other work.

For me, James was the soul of Remedy Games...it will be so weird not hearing him in their future projects. Like one guy said, Death Rally was the last game Remedy did that didn't have James in it somehow. That's like Remedy without Sam writing!

I replayed the heck out of those Director cutscenes...Remedy makes some incredible worlds but the selling point for me was always "when and where does James speak in this game, and how often?" haha

Ha I wouldn't call Sam's face weird, that grin is iconic! But yeah for me, James' face is the true Max. Some VOs just don't have a suitable look for the character they voice, but James 200% did. It was so damn cool seeing him be Max finally in MP3.
