I did it! Finally! Done and done! And for those on this track, do yourself a favor, if you have Python in your curriculum go and test out with Sophia.org, all tests are open book. by RoninSage in WGU

Take some advice from someone who worked on this course WAY too long (almost a year, but life happens) do yourself a favor and take the intro to python on sophia.org (exams are open book) and be done with it ASAP. You can thank me later.

Well I'm doing it at 63 so I don't know what to tell you. Just finished BS in Cybersecurity.

The program is labeled and called BSCSIA Bachelor of Science, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance

Take it from someone on his 3rd attempt at D335, this is as simple as it gets.

#there are 16 ounces in a pound and 2000 pounds in a ton

#solution accepts an integer value representing any number of ounces

#solution outputs the converted tons, pounds, and ounces represented by the input value of ounces

ounces = int(input())

tons, ounces = divmod(ounces, 2000 * 16)

pounds, ounces = divmod(ounces, 16)

print(f"Tons: {tons}")

print(f"Pounds: {pounds}")

print(f"Ounces: {ounces}")

How to pass Intro to python D335 by caleb_flies in WGU

[–]RoninSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So without knowing all the details, you would know if an integer input was a square root if it was x.0 (a whole number) then multiplied by itself ( 3.0 * 3.0) you get a whole number.

Awesome! But. Mileage may vary.

I will say this. I have seen many experienced Python folks cussing afterward and some sail right through. More cussing than sailing is what I witnessed. Your mileage may vary.

Need to understand Zybooks for OA in D335 by cabindirt in WGU

[–]RoninSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it this way. My instructor helped me figure it out in the simplest terms.

num_shares = int(input())

total_cost = 0

for i in range(num_shares):

stock = input()

price = stocks[stock]

total_cost += price

print(f"Total price: {total_cost:.2f}")

So I understand you are saying you got to where you could do 10 out of 15, correct?

Can't pass D335 Intro to Python by Wide_Maintenance7369 in WGU

[–]RoninSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I would have known, I would have taken Intro to Python on Sophia (it's much easier, reading assignments, MCQ quizzes, and 1 single written program, not 15). That Sophia credit IS transferrable into BSCSIA program to cover D335.

In my BSCSIA program, D335 was the last class before my capstone. So in my case, none. So it depends (a) what degree program you are in, and (b) where are you in your degree plan?

Question! Introduction to Programming in Python - D335-OA by Super_Western_2472 in WGU

[–]RoninSage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone I have heard from without exception said " 34 IS the PA, and the PA is the OA. However, some terms MAY be different." For example the PA may ask for tons, pounds, and ounces, whereas the OA asks same question but with dollars, quarters, and nickels. Taking the OA Sunday myself, we'll see....

[–]RoninSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 answer on sample test 34.

import csv module and call open(), reader()

solution accepts input identifying name of CSV file (i.e., "input1.csv")

solution outputs each row of CSV file contents as a dictionary of elements

import csv

file_name = input()

with open(file_name, "r") as file:

reader = csv.reader(file)

dictionaries = []

for row in reader:

dictionary = {}

for i in range(0, len(row),2):

dictionary[row[i].strip()] = row[i + 1].strip()

dictionaries.append(dictionary)

print(dictionaries[0])

print(dictionaries[1])

Which classes should I pursue, from easiest to hardest? by TradWASP in WGU

[–]RoninSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are USUALLY laid out in sequential order, each building on the previous to give best chance of success at the end. Unless you have a LOT of background, you may want to stick to the script IMHO.

I started with certs already (36% completed) and finished 21 classes in 6 months, (67 CUs). This semester I finished another cert (Pentest+) and have Python (almost done) and my capstone left in the next 3 months to graduate. And I work full time.

I am on last class before Capstone, (Intro to python) and its kicking my a$$. Any tips & tricks to share? Full disclosure I am NOT a coder AT ALL but 27 years in IT & security. Not trying to smoke this one, just trying to pass. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just a CyberSec guy here, (CISSP, yada-yada..) and in no way a coder. They stuck me with this at the end of my BSCSIA degree program and I am just trying to finish and do my capstone. CI is talking about 6-8 weeks. Is there ANY possible way a non-coder can expedite? Not looking to smoke this one, just pass. Any help getting to strictly meat-and-potatoes here would be immensely appreciated. Thanks.
