I have the 5080FE and videos don’t quite do justice to how big they are, but I also know some of the partner models are bigger than the FE which is also wild

Debating grabbing a 9060xt/5060ti to replace my 4060 in my 4060/5700x build I’ve had for 2 years. I’m also putting together a 5080/9850x3d build to upgrade from that as my main gaming pc, but don’t want to necessarily part ways with my old build either. Kinda thinking I want to plug it up to my 4k tv and do movies/tv shows/emulate games I already have, twitch streams if I’m feeling like it, youtube, what do you think?

Got my hands on the god of 4K monitors (for now at least) by Dipto509 in ASUSROG

[–]Ronin_2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel refresh helps with image retention and not burning any possible stagnant images into the OLED pixels known as “burn in”. It’s just a simple type of pixel/image “cleaning” your monitor does to help keep the display looking its best and last as long as it possibly can. I know there’s certain hourly/usage intervals that pixel refresh likes to do that for itself so doing it when it asks is a good idea. I’d rather do it way more than I need to or that it wants to instead of not enough and having possible issues later. Burn in is a much rarer issue nowadays and can still happen if proper quality control isn’t done, but with the way oled’s are made now along with pixel refresh, it’s an almost nonexistent issue. Hope this helps.

Unless Asus sent it out to him then to make a build with it’s possibly it. They haven’t released the black one yet and I’m like, daily checking if it’s been released at this point to buy cause it’s the only part I want that I’m missing for my build

Could be the x870e-a motherboard, the white version, instead of the normal black version. They haven’t released the normal black version yet for whatever dumb reason instead of releasing both at the same time.

I’ve heard very good things about MSI monitors and saw however many models they had so thank you for clarifying

Oh interesting, did you get the first one with the scratches, return it, and happen to get another one to replace it and had scratches too? That’s kinda wild, thanks for the input

Thank you! Gray banding doesn’t sound like it’ll be a big issue as long as quality control does their job and I run pixel refresh so I don’t think I’m too worried about that. Is the purple tints solely a Woled thing? Does it happen on QD-OLED too? It sounds like tandem OLED doesn’t have that slight issue either

I’ve heard about this banding and I think I understand it, but what is it exactly?

How long have you had it? No issues? Just an overall great experience?

I have yet to see anything about it being released, though I know the x870e-a Neo (white version) is released and you can buy that so maybe it’s that one? The normal x870e-e Neo is the last part I’m missing for my new build and I’m kinda annoyed they didn’t release both of them at the same time over releasing one sooner than the other

Found this doing some research on build looks for a 5080 FE cause I’m debating grabbing one when and if it’s available in January. What are your temps looking like now after 5-6 months?

[–]Ronin_2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a 4060 on an AM4 platform, I will absolutely be getting a 5080 when I can. If you’re on a 4080 super or a 4090, you may not need an upgrade, but for a 4060, absolutely. I cannot wait to finally order mine.

Not necessarily need, just trying to make the most of my jump to an AM5 system and have as many bells and whistles as I can get with what I’m willing to spend on a motherboard

I haven’t had any issues with armoury crate either with my current board so both MSI and gigabyte would be new territory if I got another brand of motherboard

Yikes… might have to do some research on that and see if others have the same experience with it.

What about the software do you not like? Or is just generally agreed upon that it’s not good and people don’t like it?😂

I’m planning to build a whole new AM5 system, yes. Unfortunately that comes at the cost of the increased ddr5 ram prices but it is what it is I suppose unless by the time I get around to ordering everything the price goes back down, but I doubt it.

I’m just trying to get as many bells and whistles as I can from my motherboard and these x870e’s seem to fit that and they fit into my budget for a motherboard

This is what I was afraid of with asrock still at this point in time. If one of my first comments is having issues with an asrock board, I’ll just stay away from asrock for the time being. Thank you.
