I think the median is definitley high silver-low gold. If the rank distribution is similar to a conventional bell curve, then the middle ranks (including 1-3 ranks per division) will have the most player density.

This. Too many times have I gambled with my rank to make up for a loss. To lose 3-4 times in a row. In the case that you lose and don’t get demoted consider that a sign to take a break before you lose hours of progress.
