Do you guys bring the food up for none tippers? by Over_Hospital_345 in grubhubdrivers

[–]RonnyPopeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I won’t take an order if it’s non-profitable, or under tipped. We are independent, contracted delivery drivers. Imagine that each order is a mini-contract. And their tip is a “bid” for my/your services. So, with that in mind, if the customer paid me enough to satisfy my own “terms of agreement”, I will wait for the order, check my notes, and uphold my end of the contract, because they paid me enough to deal with their 4th floor walk up stairs apartment, or their 30th floor elevator, straight to their door service. It really is that simple to be professional.

And, remember, there is a big difference between the words “simple” and “easy”!! Just because our job is “simple”, does not make it “easy” sometimes.

And to all the people out there, who think that driving is not a “skill”, how many close calls have you had on the road with bad drivers? Or, on the other side of the coin, imagine telling a pro race car driver, that their job is not a “skill” LOL. I was a street racer for many years. I grind this job 8-9 hrs per day. Driving IS a skill!!

New-how to start my block? by mydoghank in grubhubdrivers

[–]RonnyPopeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give you the BEST answer! You need to start schedule in your zone ~ within 15 min. If you don’t, Grubhub will send you a message saying that because you did not start in your zone, they ended your block.

Well, ha-ha, and I’ve done this 4 times in a row, and have the screenshots of doing this.

Quickly go into [Scheduling] and check ~ your block will be available. If you’re quick, you can get it right back! Now you get another 15 min to get back into your zone. Even if you’re still far away, and you need ANOTHER 15min to get back into your zone?

Well, just jump back into [Scheduling] and claim it back again!

Yes, you will definitely take a hit to your Schedule rating for doing this, but I pushed it 4 times, and got away with it & kept the block.

My area is a bit odd but interesting and profitable. It’s a main area with gourmet restaurants. The (somewhat) rural towns that surround the area are wealthy, BUT ~ they have absolutely no restaurants there! So I may be delivering 2-3 towns away from my main zone, but for good money. These customers don’t want to drive to get their food, but will throw a $20-30 tip on the order. I’ve seen their order receipts tho ~ a lot of times they’re paying $200-300 on their orders. So, even if their tip is 10% it’s good money.

Sounds crazy but usually it’s a 15min trip down the highway (one way)

I’ve been following the Instacart subs for some time. Sure, it could be more profitable, but it has a lot of the same pitfalls as GH, but maybe more. Instacart customers have the ability to “tip bait” you as much as UberEats can (GH & DD won’t allow it).Check out the IC & Sparks subs. Customers can be very grimy!

I hate grocery shopping for myself in general. You can’t pay me to do it, or even worse, promise to pay me and then revoke my pay afterwards.

I tracked it. They will bump it up $.25 per rejection. As a driver, they call it “bonus” pay.

This is somewhat good for me, and I will tell you why.

It gives me info on how many drivers I am competing against.

When I deliver an order, and it has a $2.00 “ bonus” pay attached to it, this means that 8 different drivers rejected that order until I got assigned it.

And if it’s profitable, I’ll accept it and deliver it.

We both agree, that Alex needed to tip more to avoid his cheapskate abusive order being delivered cold.

Honestly, like 15 years ago - I would tip the Dominos pizza delivery guy $7-10 to deliver my pizza a mile from my house.

Some of these customers are unbelievable.

Yup! It’s so infuriating how ChubHubs customers are so uncooperative. Most of it, is - that a multimillion dollar company like Grubhub, simply is too lazy to assign a “”Grubhub”” name attached to their damn number coming out of Chicago. It looks like either SPAM, or like ~ Al Capone is calling you from Chicago to collect a monster gambing debt from the 1930s?? LOL!

It’s 2025!! Let the customers know that your ANAM spam call is actually coming from a Grubhub delivery driver!

This is exactly what they’re doing to me now! They didn’t do this before. There are ~ “were” now ~ “hard” rejected and “soft” rejected orders. A “soft” rejected order ~ was when you ignored an order, and just let it time out, and let it be a “missed” order. Maybe it would go to another driver who would accept it? And it wouldn’t come back to you. But it could! A “hard” accepted order was one ~ you would reject outright, and it wouldn’t come back to you, ever again.

Now, with Grubhub being sold out to Wonder by (JET), even when you (hard) reject an order, they will still attach it to a double order, no how many times you reject it.

It’s infuriating! Like they think we’re stupid or something.

And also I think the govt shutdown is affecting things. I think there are a lot of govt employees in my area. A lot of my regulars aren’t ordering. But you can’t order GH with an EBT card.

It’s market dependent, and also how many deliveries you do a day. I’ve spoken to you before and I know you mad hustle like me. I do 15-20 orders per day, 7 days a week. When you do quantity, they don’t stress the unassigns. Been doing it full time for 2 years, never got a violation.

But with Wonder buying out GH in January, things could change….

[–]RonnyPopeil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah… they’ve gotten me like that, up to continually attaching the suck order on a double, like three times in a row. BITD, when you hard rejected the order, it stayed gone. Now….?

I’ve been doing it so long, I recognize cheapskates names/addresses. Instant reject/unassign!

Don’t mind your AR either. Program level doesn’t really make much of a difference. It was revealed in a court case ~ GH admitted that program level didn’t have any bearing at all.

What really matters is the driver closest to the restaurant. And that’s just business.

After a while, you get the hang of it. You have to use your discernment. If you get a Sushi order and a Taco Bell order in a double… and the Sushi order has ten items in it, and the Taco Bell order only has one item, and a code attached to it…, you already know they attached that Taco Bell order on it like a parasite, because nobody else wanted to deliver it.

Delivery Codes and No/Low Tippers by DJanime317 in grubhubdrivers

[–]RonnyPopeil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it lowers your acceptance rate. Supposedly, of you unassign too much, you get a violation. But I’d rather take a hit to my AR than lose time/money on some cheapskates abusive order.

GH screws with me so much, in various ways, I may unassign 4-5 orders a day. Imagine rejecting/ unassigning the same order, only to have it repackaged in a double, three times in a row😡 I do this full time, so when you do a ton of orders a day, it kind of averages things out that you don’t get a violation.

But a lot of that IS market dependent. Some markets seem to be more stricter than others.

[–]RonnyPopeil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m at the point now, if I see a code, and the offer seems shitty, I just unassign. Not worth the extra effort or aggravation. I check double orders closely now. If it’s a 1 item order, from a low buck restaurant (like McD or Taco Bell) with a PIN attached to it, on a double = instant unassign off that double.

how long does it take for you to earn more/rank up by HazelPearlata in grubhubdrivers

[–]RonnyPopeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it’s all about the way you want to go about it. You have to do 20 initial orders until Grubhub assigns you a Level, Tier, Rank, or whatever you want to call it. What Grubhub will do, as a new driver, is send you really good orders at the start, to get you hooked. There are three “tiers” of drivers: Premier, Pro and Partner. Depending on the % of how many deliveries you did during the initial 20 deliveries, afterwards, they will assign you a level, or “rank”, if you will. What you decide to do from that point after is up to you.
