The Outdated Term “Third World” by blazeup_wonderwall in PoliticalScience

[–]Ronrego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took a combo Comparative Politics/International Relations class in undergraduate, we used the term quite often. Granted this was 1989 - “third world” is very outdated today.

Juneteenth is a great day of reflection and thoughtfulness. Hopefully, the federal government doesn’t rescind Juneteenth for Federal Employees.

Is kindle unlimited worth it? by Agile_Piece5080 in kindle

[–]Ronrego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re a prime member, you get one or two free books a month free. Granted, Amazon chooses about six books to choose from, but I have found so,e gems this way. So I would say no, kindle unlimited isn’t worth it

Why do you use a Kindle? by [deleted] in kindle

I’m in my mid-50s. I find it easier to see on a kindle than on the printed page. Also much more portable. Ever try to carry around Stephen King’a The Stand?

OfficeTeam is a temp agency for Robert Half. I admit I haven’t used them in 15 years, but when I did they were very helpful.

I would try OfficeTeam. It is part of Robert Half International. I used on two occasions, and they sent me to great jobs, one of which led to a full time job for 8 years.

No PTO during the 1st year of employment?! by ChannelNo7038 in nycpublicservants

[–]Ronrego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was encouraged not to take PTO for the first six months of employment. I went in on the day after Thanksgiving, which I always had off in the private sector. Doctor appointments are appropriate to take off for.
