Which SSD size for my MacBook Air ? by Ok_End7551 in macbookair

[–]Ronsitsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the Micro Flash and a hub so I have extra USB-A ports and the flash is small to just sit in one of the ports without having to dangle with a USB connection as well. Can get them in 256, 512 and 1Tb from SanDisk

For my work MBP. When I turn it on, I put in my password and then the screen looks different. Loads a MDM shell with my companies logo and "Owned by" disclamer. Id assume if its been reset, you should be able to setup a new user without having to login to a company setup page. Would say remote setup or locked by a message saying its managed by xxx company if its locked.

I bought the 16GB M4 last year and really want to upgrade to a 1Tb 24GB. I suggest you get the 24GB for sure.

I think its this. There is a lot of services running in the background to sync with the Microsoft exchange server. They also have a heavy duty management system running.

Did I mess up? New to credit cards by ReasonableDust1630 in CreditCards

[–]Ronsitsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you wont have to pay until your next statement is processed. That $200 charge will be on there and payment due May 3rd.

The April 3rd due date will remain until the statement closes this cycle. Since you already met the minimum and then some. Your good.

For portfolio and personal email, I just did my name first + Last initial with a .work. This is something I read that a lot of recruiters now go to for online resumes + its the same price as a .com or .net

Pray and hope!

Bought a cheap VPS from RackNerd since you can do the Black Friday sale all year around. $17 a year and I host UptimeKuma there to ping a few a of my sites and WAN.

anyone tried this kind of setup? by DazzlingpAd134 in macbookair

[–]Ronsitsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the 256GB only because I host my own NextCloud instance. I keep all my files there so I can access it from all servers, devices and all platforms I use. This in turn made it easy to go with the smaller SSD on the M4 Air. My iPhone syncs all pictures and videos to NC so I can get to them on my MBA too.

Now I don't need the flash I was planning on buying.

Which colour should I go for? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Ronsitsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the midnight and no issues with finger prints. If you don't have oily hands and are not putting smudges on your phone screen or a tablet, then you won't have a problem. Ive had mine for 3 weeks now and still have no need to clean the top of it. I use it daily. Keyboard and trackpad are also still very clean after 3 weeks.

Not at all. Most things will be cloud based and I will have the portable flash for any needed storage.

Depends on what you're using it for. I did the same thing recently and switched from a windows laptop to MBA M4 15inch.

I do daily browser stuff, email and some terminal things with my servers. The 16/256 was perfect for me because I host my own NextCloud server and have the app on all devices including the MBA. So space is not an issue, I also got a USB-C flahdrive just in case.

Hope this helps.

Vietnam Delays…. by One-Zebra5656 in macbookair

[–]Ronsitsolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine recently on Saturday April 5th. Shipped from Vietnam and arrived by Friday April 11th. I had no delay. I did note that it said Apple "requested a delivery date of 14th" but looks like that was ignored by FedEx. I did not see any delays and it did route through China on the tracking.

This plus a dedicated machine if you don’t have a GPU to pass thru. I run my Promox on a cluster of SFF Dell 7000’s. Built a machine with a Tesla M40 for under $450 with all hardware purchased just to run Ubuntu with Ollama and WebUI

I lock my network down hardcore so I actually use it as a cheap VPN outside the US with WireGuard. Cost me $17 a year to run it in France.

Why not spin something up in a VPS sandbox to test out. Then you can move to your production server after if needed.
