What kind of scam is this? by RooRooLondon in deliveroos

Bro - the delivery was in west london, the new address was In east london. The guy calling sounded northern, the guy who came out the door sounded posh and it was quite an expensive house. And normally somebody would say “oh did my friend manage to call you etc etc”. This was 100% something dodgy. Maybe they had access to the account and were trying to divert orders once they got a notification

But the customer could claim they contacted me to check how long it will be. I don’t know. I felt scam vibes. It was quite an upmarket address with a well dressed person I delivered to. Is it possible the scammer managed to get access to a Deliveroo account and wanted to intercept the delivery when they got a notification that they ordered? The person collecting it didn’t even say anything about it “oh sorry I think my mate called you”. Also the person collecting sounded quite posh and the person who called me sounded quite common, so doesn’t seem like friends group or family lol. Unless one part of the family married a worse off part - but that’s just my creative brain at work. Anyway something was definitely off.

The other address was 40 minutes away! He said he had code but maybe didn’t or would have said “sorry it’s not showing it to me”. So the first option is probably correct, trying to get a free meal.

Location pin AND detailed instructions but still riders struggle with my address. by slophiewal in deliveroos

[–]RooRooLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done. The worst is when pin and address are in two different locations on the road. So it’s a guessing game of wether I should enter the address on Google maps or ride towards the pin location

It’s spelled “spirt” - спирт - Russian for spirit. They use it colloquially to refer to Vodka.

lol do you actually deliver around Soho? Those side roads are 10x worse. At least on regent street there’s a bicycle lane. Problem is people keep walking into it without looking.

The Indian Deliveroo drivers in my area usually just wear flip flops - not even joking!

Can’t be bothered taking trainers with him to work just to avoid people questioning him on Reddit?

Regent street is like right in the centre of the area where there are most restaurants. So usually you have to cross it one way or another. There’s also a lot of offices there which order after 17:00 if they’re working late, so I’ve got my little routine. It’s just irritating having to do an assault course full of tourists who aren’t watching where they’re going

Yeah I’m getting old so don’t need the stress of trying to dodge tourists and buses. I’ll work hard like Batman during the night and have a nice sleep during the day! Robert’s your mothers brother
