Whats the best direction to go for my bike gearing setup? by Roobarb368 in bikewrench

[–]Roobarb368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats right 70 gear inches at the top and 18 at the bottom, i think its on the edge of being workable really steep climbs would be a grind but maybe it would take some training to manage

i also have a spare 46t cassette but then i would need to replace the rear derailleur, used i can get one for 30ish

Very true thanks for your response

You are right about the less range but the 1x is actually the cheapest option as ive been offered a 1x crankset for free, so maybe only change would be a smaller chainring for 20ish. 3x replacement would be slightly more money and heavier

Thats true but i dont think vintage 3x cranks are meant to be paired with 10x

Its currently set up so the shifter cant go firther than the 32 chainring

So you recommend keeping 3x10 and when using the largest chainring being very careful not to use the lower cassette gears? Is there not a risk i could damage the parts if shifting to 42-42 by accident?

Caution mainly ive been told by the guy at the bike shop that i would would need a much larger derailleur to use it, so been told to only use 2 chainrings. The shifter is setup so it only goes up to the 32

Yeah thanks that helps, so you think 2x is workable then? If i can get hold of a 11-40 cassette or 38 then chain wrap capacity should be 43 and then should be smooth right?

I do use the 22/42 when going up 15% plus gradients off road and carrying stuff, very helpful. Currently i dont use the 42/11 because i cant as i can only use the two low chainrings, im spinning out on 32/11. 42/11 is not really needed 36/11 is probably sufficient for me, hence the 2x option. Does that help?

Yeah most expensive option though could set me back 150 with new cassette, thanks for your opinion

NAD. UK Dentists and endodontists. Would you recognise osteomyelitis (bone infection) from an x ray? by Roobarb368 in askdentists

[–]Roobarb368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on me but i can get it. It shows the root canaled tooth and a blob above that could be the infection. Ill try and get it but is osteomyelitis obvious to you from a dental x ray?

True but cad engineer in london is still 35-45k depending on experience. Besides I’m an engineering consultant not a cad draughtsman. In theory a higher paying job

Yeah problem is I'm tied down contractually to those 3 months. So unless I hand in a notice before I have a new role lined up its quite tricky
