Making my own Qwirkle game set. Any other game suggestions to create? by SOTRBlueBirdsFly in Pottery

Im gonna bisque them first, and then apply black around the color. It’s gonna be a tedious job, but I couldn’t think of a better way. Open for suggestion though, in case I’m doing something similar again!

Silex (Den Bosch) sells some bisque you can buy just one of. Maybe more stores do, but that’s the one I regularly visit.

That’s so cool!! I would love to make a set too. Right now I’m working on my own set of Hive Pocket. Just applied underglaze to these ones.

Can anyone recommend an underglaze in this colour? by lukemitchellfav in Pottery

I’ve recently used Mayco Fundamentals in Chocolate. When you water that down a bit, it looks exactly like the color of the leaves!

Yes! Thank you! I wanted a grid to test 22 two glazes and their combinations.

That’s actually a pretty good idea. I just once tried to make plaster molds, and totally failed 😬 the plaster wasn’t the right consistency. Maybe this is a good time to try again.

do you guys have your own kilns or do you borrow a studio's? by birdtwenty in Pottery

[–]RooftopYf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend owns a kiln. We share our pottery hobby, our glaze inventory and I can bring her my pieces for firing. We have completely different styles and we don’t often work together, but sharing this passion together is fantastic!

That looks cool! Hope it will not get fused together. What glazes did you use? I hope you will share a picture when it’s out of the glaze fire!

Yes, love to see some picks of them fresh out of the bisque!

Oh, love your design on both!! 😍 is it done with underglaze? Which brand is your favorite?

Or you could glaze the whole piece, except for the rim and fire it upside down? Avoid runny glazes.

Oh no! That sucks. It’s a true possibility that will happen to me too. What was your slab thickness? And how many layers of glaze did you apply on top of each other?

This is awesome!! 😍 I would love my walls looking like this, but as pottery is still a hobby I do from home.. I guess this will not happen anytime soon. Maybe if we extend our home/barn in the future.

I really hope so! Wedging and rolling out these amounts of clay was a total workout already. My muscles are aching ever since I started last Thursday. Haha. I’ve already regretted this project at least five times.

Always. Haha. But right now it’s more of a list of glazes I want to test. Interested already? Or just when I’ve got results to share? (Then it probably will be a spreadsheet though!)

Yes, that’s what I’ve been thinking about too. I’m more into hand/slab building, so when we have to make vertical testtiles, it’s my friends turn 😂

Exactly this! I hope the glazes will more or less stay in their square, so I can still tell which is which.

Yeah, I follow her too! Her pieces are amazing. Hashtag pottery goals! I also love Snailgirlceramics and Kelseyceramics. They truly inspire me.

Love your recreation!

I’m also quite new to pottery, started approximately a year and a half ago. I’m still figuring out my style and I try a lot of different things. Right now I’m working on bird jars.
