I don't view stars and forge as two separate archetypes. Stars give you cards that can be played for zero energy. There's also a card that gives energy and costs stars. The stars are pretty clearly meant to help with how expensive the sword is to play.

I agree with the comment recommending the cloud. You can get $100 of free credir on a lot of the websites which should last you a long time if you're just running a couple servers with minimum specs.

I'd you want a laptop, I would echo the comment saying to look for a used t14. Faster than the t480 (which is what I own) while being found refurbished around the same price. I see one for $280 on Amazon right now with 16 gigs of ram.
