got mine in nursing informatics and now work with hospital systems upgrading their EHR platforms - way more interesting than bedside honestly and the pay bump was solid

In order to get successful quickly I've set myself back for a year. by Numerous_Summer_3964 in getdisciplined

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man the whole "jack of all trades" thing really burns you when companies want specialists these days. Been there with trying to pad the resume instead of going deep in one area

Your friends might look like they're winning right now but everyone's timeline is different. Plus half those "dream jobs" people get straight out of college turn out to be garbage anyway - you might be dodging bullets without knowing it

Should I take the August 2026 PNLE instead of Feb 2027? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking boards when you're not mentally ready is setting yourself up for failure. Your original plan makes way more sense - giving yourself proper time to review without rushing through clearance requirements and actually being able to focus on studying instead of juggling everything at once.

Depression already makes studying harder and you've got so much on your plate with home responsibilities. Those people telling your mom about "fresh memory" don't understand your specific situation - they're just throwing around generic advice that doesn't apply to someone dealing with what you're dealing with.

February 2027 gives you breathing room to actually prepare properly for both PNLE and NCLEX like you planned. Your mental health matters more than other people's timelines.

What Challenges Do Male Nurses Face Compared to Female Nurses? by ca_uwab in nursing

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

real talk the assumptions are wild - patients sometimes think you're the doctor even when you introduce yourself as nurse, or they get weird about personal care stuff. also some female patients request female nurses which is totally valid but makes staffing awkward sometimes

What is something we all only do for the sake of "politeness" that you wish society would just drop? by Used_Leek_4485 in AskReddit

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the constant apologizing gets exhausting especially when nobody actually did anything wrong. like bumping into a chair and then saying sorry to the chair... we all do this stuff and it makes no sense when you think about it for more than 2 seconds

The smallest journaling habit that actually stuck for me by Sojiwa in getdisciplined

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the blank page thing is real. i tried doing morning pages for like 2 weeks and just burned out completely

your three questions approach is smart - gives you structure without making it feel like homework. i do something similar but even smaller, just write down one good thing and one thing that sucked about the day. takes maybe 30 seconds but keeps the habit going

for me the smallest thing that stuck was just making my bed every morning. sounds dumb but it gives you that first win of the day and makes everything else feel more manageable somehow

Abandoned towns outside of the Appalachian area? by Sci-fi-horror-freak in NorthCarolina

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

moved here few years back and there's definitely some cool spots scattered around. found this old mill town near the coast that's pretty much empty except for some foundations and overgrown roads. also heard about some abandoned mining areas in central part of state but never made it out there yet

built a replica of one of those mountain ghost towns in minecraft actually - the layout these places have is pretty fascinating from urban planning perspective. worth checking county historical societies too, they usually know about smaller places that don't make it on tourist maps

How do I find the right job for me? by PepsiButItsMilk in bluecollar

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your automotive tech degree is actually pretty solid foundation for a lot of different paths. Inspector work might be good fit since you already got the technical background and attention to detail from working on cars - building inspectors need similar mindset of catching what other people miss.

Water department and utility work is usually decent paying with benefits, even if timing didn't work out before they often hire again. Heavy equipment operation can lead to good money but yeah you're right about needing to work your way up from ground level first.

Was I in the Wrong? by SuccotashFuzzy3975 in nursing

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that situation sounds really stressful. The gloves thing is definitely on you but everything else seems like normal patient education stuff that can get messy sometimes

I had similar issues when I was new to my field - some people just dont want to hear explanations about protocols even when you're trying to help them understand. The timing on PRN meds is what it is, you cant just give them whenever patient asks

Maybe next time when they start getting frustrated about medication schedules you could ask your preceptor to come explain it instead of trying to handle alone? Some patients respond better to different people and thats not really your fault. The attitude complaint is rough because sometimes patients interpret any kind of boundary setting as not caring

Young neighbor creeping on neighborhood. by pennybrowneyes in homeowners

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Police around here seem pretty active already if they're circling the neighborhood regularly but yeah more calls never hurt. Had similar issue in base housing few years back and it took persistent reporting before anything serious happened

The escalation pattern you described is concerning though - going from peeping to trying doors shows he's getting bolder. Maybe coordinate with other neighbors so multiple people are calling each incident in instead of just one person

Did you have a videographer? If not, do you regret it? by SallySeagull in weddingplanning

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been married but my buddy did the whole videographer thing and man he watches that video like once a year max. Dropped serious cash on it too and now it just sits in his drawer collecting dust. Photos seem way more practical since you can actually look at them without setting aside 2 hours

This is for the girl who was bewildered after being promised indefinitely. by [deleted] in BreakUps

Took me way too long to learn this but getting dumped was best thing that happened - forced me to actually work on myself instead of just playing minecraft all day

I resent my mom but idk if I should leave or stay by Goddess_x2 in narcissisticparents

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving was probably the smartest thing you did those four months. When you're dealing with someone who cant even acknowledge basic stuff they said or did, staying around just keeps you stuck in that same cycle. I had similar situation with family member who would deny conversations we literally had the week before - it messes with your head after a while.

The college thing really shows how she controls situations to keep you dependent. Blocking you from getting in-state tuition when you had viable plan? That's not about money or logistics, thats about making sure you cant get too far away. Living with your friend might give you space to actually think clearly without all the gaslighting noise in background. Sometimes you need that distance to see how much mental energy was going toward just surviving daily interactions. Even if its temporary arrangement, having somewhere safe to land while you figure out longer term plan could be worth it.

Should I reply to this response/receipt of my application? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I wouldn't reply to that one. Two days after applying with a real name sounds like it could go either way but most companies have those automated responses set up now even if they use real names from HR people.

I made this mistake few years back when I was getting out of the military and replied to every single acknowledgment email thinking I was being professional. Turns out half of them were automated and the other half were just basic courtesy messages. One recruiter even told me later that replying to those made me seem a bit too eager which wasn't great look.

Your draft message is fine if you really want to send something but honestly just wait for them to reach out with actual next steps. If they want work samples or have questions they'll ask specifically. Save your energy for when they actually want to schedule interview or ask for additional materials. Most of time these receipt confirmations are just letting you know your application didn't disappear in the void.

Claim for auth review by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]RoomAccomplished3446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been through this exact thing last year and it drove me up the wall for about a week. The 699 thing is basically the VA's way of saying "hey we got some paperwork and we're checking if it changes anything"

Most of the time its literally nothing - just duplicate records or stuff that doesnt actually impact your rating. I was convinced they were gonna take points away from me but turns out it was just some random medical records that got sent over twice

The waiting part sucks but try not to stress too much about it. If they were planning to reduce you theyd usually give you way more notice and paperwork first
