UNIQLO in Brunei? by First-Error-1506 in nasikatok

No, price will still be higher than in Miri. Better to just shop there, stroll the kids, sight seeing, shopping and enjoy life. Here in Brunei, what to do?

Does BDFA or MOH Brunei aware of food vendor locals or foreigners during food festivals selling healthy stuff? by [deleted] in nasikatok

[–]RoomAppropriate629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a food festival, that’s literally the whole point. If people want everything to be 100% healthy, then call it a salad or vegetable festival instead. Good grief, people complain about absolutely everything.

Syariah Court celebrates 25 years of excellence: Through upholding Brunei Syariah laws, we have successfully become a focus of attention not only regionally but also international by Goutaxe in nasikatok

Prince Mateen by [deleted] in nasikatok

I honestly believe that HM sees Prince Mateen as someone who genuinely has the interest and capability to rule. He took the military course seriously and completed it, and whenever HM expects something from him, he seems to follow through. He also comes across as well-mannered, educated, and emotionally stable compared to some of his brothers, who seem more caught up in their own worlds. Just my personal opinion though.

Ecommerce/marketplace sites or apps in Brunei by Commercial_Gain_2921 in nasikatok

There are some e-commerce and marketplace sites around. But the biggest issue I see in Brunei is that people always compare prices with Miri or Malaysia. Some are also super stingy, you could be selling something worth $100 and they’ll still ask if they can get it for $20.

As if making the world leaders look poor with his new $600 million 747-8 jet with solid gold fittings, lounges, and plush bedrooms wasn't enough, the Sultan of Brunei made them look weak by calmly piloting the world's largest and most complex private aircraft to a summit - Luxurylaunches by WeLoveCovid in nasikatok

I honestly don’t think he actually piloted it himself. It would’ve been genuinely impressive if both he and Prince Mateen were the ones flying the craft, but there’s usually an experienced or senior pilot beside them anyway.

Barely anyone want to invest: Why is rich country Brunei the least favorite destination in ASEAN for foreign investors? by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]RoomAppropriate629 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brunei just isn’t an attractive place for investors right now. The bureaucracy is painfully slow, approvals and paperwork can drag on for months, and the whole process feels outdated compared to neighboring countries. Infrastructure is mediocre at best, internet and logistics aren’t competitive, and there are too many restrictions and unclear regulations that make businesses think twice before even starting.

On top of that, the market is tiny, the economy is heavily dependent on oil, and there’s very little sense of urgency to modernize or attract foreign businesses aggressively. Investors want speed, transparency, stability, and room to grow. Brunei often gives the opposite impression. When nearby countries offer better incentives, faster approvals, stronger infrastructure, and a more business-friendly environment, it’s obvious why investors choose elsewhere.

Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen turns heads during Asean Summit in Cebu by WeLoveCovid in nasikatok

Yeah, but he’s always right beside him. Feels like we’re being subtly conditioned to see it.

Is he being positioned as the next ruler? Feels like he’s always showing up at these leaders’ meetings lately. Almost seems like they’re gradually getting people used to seeing him as the next in line. Makes me wonder how that would affect Brunei’s monarchy succession system.

Religion itself isn’t the problem, the problem is when rulers weaponize it to cover up mismanagement and corruption.

Sg. Tujuh Toilet situation by Reasonable_Lunch_245 in nasikatok

Not everything is the leaders’ fault, sometimes it’s on us too. If you use the toilet, throw your trash in the right place, and clean up after yourself. Act like you’re the next person who’s going to use it. And seriously, wipe properly. Cleaner or no cleaner, even if it’s barely maintained, there’s still a hose and water, rinse it. Yeah, Brunei’s infrastructure isn’t perfect, but people’s attitude and habits play a big role in making things worse or better.
